5.0 out of 5 stars Very good, 16 Mar. 2012
I can only speak from experience. This strikes me as a really decent item that does the job it's supposed to do. And it's a good price. Very satisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb revivial, 19 Nov. 2011
I only "got into" the Paul Temple radio mysteries about a year ago, but I've been devouring the classic serials ever since, and am always delighted when "new" releases occur. This is a wonderful production that really makes you feel that everyone involved has invested plenty of loving care into the enterprise. The story actually kept me surprised and intrigued right to the end, and Crawford Logan (as Temple) and Gerda Stevenson (as Steve) are so good you forget you're listening to a modern re-enactment. First class radio!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good little movie, 14 Nov. 2011
This review is from: The Clairvoyant [DVD] (DVD)
I've always liked Claude Raines, so I was drawn to this DVD for that initial reason, but I soon found myself absorbed by this unusual, nicely-paced, quirky little tale that mixes humour with drama to produce a refreshingly unusual piece of fiction. The picture quality is a little soft, but very watchable, and the sound is clear and very good considering the age of the film. AS the other reviewers have shown, very well, this is well worth viewing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, 1 Nov. 2011
I very much enjoyed this. The first half, covering The Beatles era, struck me at times as a little incoherent: there was, for example, frustratingly little on George's early years in Liverpool (his two surviving brothers were interviewed but only feature very briefly and superficially), and the footage on The Beatles tends to lose focus on George and get distracted (albeit understandably) by John. The second half, however, really sees the documentary come into its own, with some fresh, fascinating and sometimes very moving material on this complicated and impressive individual. Ideally I would have liked more insight into his controversial and critically unsuccessful US tour, and something on the late tour of Japan he made with his friend Eric Clapton, but what is here is thoroughly absorbing and certainly enriches one's understanding, and appreciation, of a remarkable man and musician.

4.0 out of 5 stars No extras?, 15 Feb. 2011
This review is from: Monk: Season 7 [DVD] (DVD)
Lovely show, and some fine moments, but what a disappointment that this season's DVD set appears to lack any 'extras'. I suppose they might be hidden away as Easter eggs' - a gimmick I've never understood - but I certainly can't find any. I was expecting to at least have a short feature on the 'changing of the psychiatrists' - but no.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, 10 Feb. 2011
This review is from: The Dolby Decades (Audio CD)
I love everything this character does, and this is a real delight - clever, funny and believeable observations, delivered so well. 'Savoury' is a classic, but this collection is a delight from start to finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Festive Fun, 21 Dec. 2010
This is a very good collection of Hancock for Christmas: a very funny set of episodes, all good sound quality. It's consistently entertaining, from start to finish.

Dad's Army - The Christmas Specials [DVD]
Dad's Army - The Christmas Specials [DVD]
Dvd ~ Arthur Lowe
Price: £5.20

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, 20 Dec. 2010
This is a fine trio of Dad's Army episodes. It features great ensemble acting, some delightful dialogue and Arthur Lowe - quite brilliantly - playing his own brother. The extras are fascinating, the picture and audio quality very good and the price a snip.

I've used one of these before, and they do their job well. I bought this for the car - very reassuring to know it's there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea, 20 Dec. 2010
Having recently found myself out without my debit card, I bought this little item to ensure I never have to endure such an irritaion again. As the other reviews note, this is tiny, neat and easy to use, and potentially hugely useful.
