I've always been a huge fan of Led Zeppelin and although I knew they'd covered a few songs and been accused of stealing more I didn't realize how important the work of those that came before them was. The Country and Electric Blues they drew upon is some of the greatest stuff in that area but the real surprise is the third disc with some era-defining Rock `n' Roll from the likes of Elvis, Dale Hawkins, Eddie Cochran and many others. Having Eddie Cochran followed by Otis Rush, then Little Richard, then Elvis and onto Hawkins and the great Johnny Burnette really shows where Led Zep were coming from. The interviews with the likes of Charles Shaar Murray and Nigel Williamson are very interesting and with the lengthy notes there's pretty much no stone left unturned.
