A Higher Call: The Incredible True Story of Heroism and Chivalry During the Second World War
A Higher Call: The Incredible True Story of Heroism and Chivalry During the Second World War
by Adam Makos
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars GOOD BOOK FOR PEOPLE INTERESTED IN SECOND WORLD WAR AIR FIGHTING BY THE GERMAN AIRFORCE, 18 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a unique story about a German fighter pilot who guides a Boeing B17 to safety rather than shooting it down
The two pilots meet up in the USA four decades later
A lot of the book is about the war experiences of the German Pilot which fills out the book
It is also a very good record of the Messerschmitt 262 jet which this pilot flew

This review is from: One Hundred Days (Paperback)
this is an excellent account of how Admiral Woodward led the Naval Task Force which recovered the Falklands
in 1982

It takes you through his daily decision making and all the good and bad points of the war

It is a genuine example of a book which once you start you do not put down

5.0 out of 5 stars THE REAL MARGARET THATCHER IS A REALLY EXCELLENT BOOK, 15 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book looks at her career to the Falklands War and covers her good points and is critical where needed
it helps that it is a very readable story and is well written
What came across to me was that she had the same doubts as we all do but she managed to change the country despite massive opposition .Not from the unions or labour , but from arrogant , men only focused and out of touch Tory Politicans .They had one thing in common .They hated having a woman in charge and they lacked the courage to challenge her
