5.0 out of 5 stars The Quintessential Patrick Wolf, 15 Nov. 2012
This review is from: Sundark And Riverlight (Audio CD)
This album is the epitome of Patrick's work over the last ten years. The tracks stripped down to their acoustic best the highlights being the grand piano and harp. The stand out tracks for me are Overture, Bluebells and from the excellent Wind in the Wires album, Teignmouth, The Libertine & Wind in the Wires. I don't know where PW will go next but feel that somewhere in the last five albums is the making of a great modern symphony.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, a masterpiece of raw music and real emotion, 31 Dec. 2006

Patrick Who? - That's what I thought until about two months ago.

Not many albums really move you or raise the bar, back in 1972 Yes released 'Close To The Edge' thirty years later Patrick Wolf released his second album which takes a few listens to fully appreciate it.

'The Railway House', 'The Gypsy King' and 'This Weather' are my personal favourite tracks but the whole album needs to be listened to in its entirety to fully absorb the musical 'journey'. This is a very original sound, the combination of Patrick's voice and the diverse musical styles combine to produce a piece of work that will stand the test of time. I strongly recommend it to anyone like myself who is looking for something different, it has a melancholy but at the same time uplifting feel to it. I suspect no future Patrick Wolf albums will be quite like it.

I've heard Patrick's first album 'Lycanthropy' and previews of his third album 'The Magic Position' (to be released Feb 2007) - both are ground breaking and set new standards.

Patrick Wolf is a very talented and innovative musician, who knows what the future will bring from this unpredictable but gifted artist.
