5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent inroduction to the genre, 10 Jan 2010
As a reader new to Medieval Literature I can definately vouch for it being an excellent introduction to the genre. The story is a classic and it is definately worth reading this translation of the achetypal version, written in the 13th century. Although the beauty of the original poem cannot be captured in a prose translation, Hatto makes a very good attempt at it and the result is a pleasure to read. I fully recomend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Forest of Hands and Teeth, 18 Aug 2009
The Forest of Hands and Teeth follows the story of Mary, a girl living in a fenced off village surrounded by the Unconsecreated - basically, zombies whos only desire is infect more and more people.

Mary's village is run by the Sisters, a group of religious zealots dedicated to God and the continuation of the human race, who harbour some dark secrets which ultimately drive Mary from the village and into the unknown outside world.

Mary herself dreams of finding the ocean, a place of which she has only heard in stories. This, coupled with her complicated love life leads to a lot of difficult choices and plenty of action.

Although I found the characters a little 2D, The Forest of Hands and Teeth is certainly an exciting story and I look forward to the sequel!
