Colourful, thorough and informative, 14 May 2004
I recent travelled to the Western Isles of Scotland on holiday - before the trip I wasnt able to find a book to take with me as a guide. Just before boarding the ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway, I flicked through this book in a local book shop, and bought it immediately.
Its thorough but consice, full of excellent colour photos, but not TOO many - and has excellent text descriptions of all the places to visit along the length of the whole of the islands, from the Butt of Lewis at the North to Berneray at the South - it even includes St Kilda and and the Flannan Islands!
The book also includes travel information, and a summary of the history, culture, archaeology, nature and highlights.
In summary - a really excellent book - and on the trip I found other guides, but none as good as this.
