Ok, so, perhaps you belong to one of those people who have been buying sound cards (especially from creative, even) for 15 years or more?

Perhaps you don't really care about the quality of sound from your pc and did without? Or maybe since motherboards more recently offer half-way decent sound chips, opted for that instead?

One thing is clear, if you are reading this then you are considering to go up a couple of notch's with your sound (just want more out of life perhaps?). And the good thing is, you are at the right place.

This card is amazing; whilst I have to say that I have been disappointed in Creative for the last 6 years (likely more). Especially when it comes to their sound drivers. Because they always seem to pull of at least acceptable hardware...

This card is different in many ways. Whilst the drivers could still have been better yet (in my world there's almost always room for improvement), the card delivers on all fronts. Here's what you really care about and what should swing you to buy this card:

- premium components inside and out, Creative did not use inferior parts. Everything is on point - there is a lot of gold plating used. A lot of high capacity employed. A lot of the good stuff you'd expect if you really go the extra mile for clear, crisp, 3d sound
- there is no static. 0%
- peripherals are exactly what I was always missing, an external headphone control unit with premium feel. Two cards inside, one for inputs and one for outputs but you only occupy one slot; typically Creative. The outputs are separated into Mic and Surround Sound output jacks; the ins include optical, which is nice
- The drivers work, they just do. Once installed you can tweak the sound to what you like. Enough bass. Enough highs. Tender mediums
- A gaming monster. Period!
- Exceptional surround sound for high definition movies, et al...

I have a range of headphones as well as a Yamaha sound set up: AX 1080 + Tune and CD/DVD with very decent speakers. I have the Logitech Z top of the range surround sound 5.1 set up for gaming. The sound is jaw-dropping on all:

- regardless of headphone type: razer blackshark and a couple of other razer ones; Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Audio Technica and AKG, the sound fills and impresses
- amps are sufficiently/efficiently powered, bass is deep with heavy pressure
- mediums are clear. classic music sounds completely clean and full; I can hear all the instruments individually and can locate the source direction precisely
- tweets are round and present, never overpowering the delivery but present

I cant fault this card as yet. I do not understand how they could pull it off at Amazon to sell this at the price. Else where you easily see it for > GBP 200 - 350

If you can, buy this card. If not get the little brother but get away from on-board mediocre-ness. If you have an Asus, stay put. You would not justify the move to this unless you produced music.

Would I buy it again, in retrospect? Regardless of from no-sound, on-board sound or from another board? Yes. Please :)

5.0 out of 5 stars ...the best mouse I have owned..., 24 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
So, I own the Razer Mamba and the Cyborg R.A.T. 9, which are both wireless gaming mice and I like them both for different things.

I also have the Logitech G9x (before that I had the logitech G9) - as gaming mice they did let me down but in everyday use I liked them both very much.

I also had 2 Roccat Kone (+) mice, the first one malfunctioned, got it changed, the second one gave up after 6 months. I got a full refund from Amazon (I love you guys :)) and went ahead and bought the XTD.

So, in form and looks this pretty much tallies up with the (+). The difference being DPI and an onboard chip on the XTD. The XTD also feels different from a textural point of view, softer, smoother. It also feels a little bit flatter, which I personally dont like, but it is very minimal.

All in all, this mouse is great. The software is fantastic (and that doesnt come easy). I dont use EasyShift much so I dont care about that as 8 buttons is enough to use imo. I do love the lighting but its a gimmick and no reason to buy a mouse.

I play on a 46 inch LED TV and having control on a large screen like that is a challenge. Not with the XTD (and (+)). They give you a feeling of control that is honestly second to none. This mouse is cheaper than a couple of others that I have mentioned and is more reliable and feels superior. I miss this mouse when I'm not at home and will rebuy if it breaks again. I cant see my main mouse changing anytime soon.

If you are thinking of buying it dont hesitate. you will not regret it - well worth the money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Battlefield 3 Edition FTW, 19 Jan 2013
So, I have had this headset for about half a year now and must say: WOW. I have the Razer Carcharias, which is quite good but this is better and i will tell you why.

Firstly, the build quality is quite robust; its got quite a bit of metal and that can be a turn off but it turns out it gives the piece its stability and flexibility, I have the BF 3 Special Edition because I love the orange color better than the green (personal choice). I did have to fiddle with the mic bits to get them fastly tightened but after that the headset has been a dream:

Pros:

1) very, very, VERY lovely bass but not overpowering - middles and highs are very crisp & clear
2) Light
3) Great for your computer games AND phones / tablets - delivers on all fronts
4) Microphone quality is extremely good, people hear me very well - no boom effects, no crackling, no echoes
5) Microphone is completely detachable - very sturdy ports. Can also be twisted to face upward along the sides of the headband
6) Snug fit
7) Eye catcher
8) Again, high quality sound

Cons:

1) Leatherettes will press against your ears when worn for very long amounts of time IF you have large ears - its on the boarder with me. I have to make sure my ears are completely submerged in the cups for the ultimate experience and prolonged usage. Fitting takes 3-4 seconds but then its a blast to use
2) Absolutely nothing else

I can only recommend these - 5 Stars, no question.

- nice and large
- nice design, great colours
- works very well with R.A.T. 9, Razer Mamber and Roccat Kone[+]

cons:
- loose gel pad
- sides feel too similar
- price a bit high

overall a good mat though, can recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great 2.0 Gaming Head-Set w/ Noise Cancelling Mic, 17 Nov 2012
Quick review:

i have used this mic now for about 2 months. i like the helicopter style look incl. microphone - that retro style is different and very original, its the main reason i started looking at the headset even though i own a couple already.

Pros:
- very good sound (and this is the most important trait). compared with other headsets, sound quality is fantastic; bit bass heavy, which i love
- sturdy; simplistic approach to design, no shenanigans, no stickers
- good quality materials used
- the mic is crystal clear, works without crackling - can be removed and replaced with a stub for improved portability
- comes as a 1 pin connector so you can use it with your phone and there is an extension you can use to separate headset and mic jacks if you're using a PC with separate ports
- i love the orange colour of the thread and cables; i like the knobs and bolts
- looks awesome / overall high quality

cons:
- can be a bit tight if worn for very long and you have larger ears than average - works fine for me
- i had to rework the mic a bit on my one, the pivot seemed to need some tightening - after this it was working 100% again no problem
- doesn't come with a bag to store/transport - pity for such a beautiful headset and justified considering the price
- the adjustable sides could have been sleeker to work (with the leatherette that should have covered the whole metal piece) but this is really me just being a perfectionist
- 'only' 2.0
- don't really fancy the battlefield 3 print at the top - should be removable

All in all, a great headset with a lot of bang for your buck. The limited battlefield version is much nicer looking than the original imo. dont be put back by my cons section, i am really quite picky and quick to criticize.

Definitely recommended overall! 5 stars for daring design and doing something different but keeping razer quality. You can get them for approx. 100 GBP if you look around a bit...

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Solid Overall, 23 Oct 2012
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Max Payne 3 (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
I think most people are too harsh with their reviews on MP3. they hinge heavily on general consensus rather than subjective+objective feedback. Max Payne has its followers. this is the type of game it is - the story has always been lineal, much like splinter cell, diablo, call of duty or battlefield 3. you can't expect wow to come out with better graphics now can you? sometimes game-makers simply are not going to go back to the drawing-board with a recipe that works. if you want choice in game, there is a selection of great RPG's out there today to play around with - mass effect / dragon age is a good place to start

I think everything essentially boils down to 3 main questions:

1) could it be better? yes, it marginally could. but not by much: the story is fantastic/breathtaking and the visuals are stunning - i love the gameplay and sound, youre really immersed. it is the most complete max payne yet, no question about that
2) is it worth the money? definitely; the fact that the price is not tumbling down hill is testimony that it is still very much is in high demand and is indeed of ultra high quality. the price staying the same for that period of time only strengthens this notion
3) did rockstar deliver overall? yes, this is THE shooter of 2012 - hands down. nothing better on the market right now in its category imho and i have played quite a few. only game i enjoy more today is GW2 but its a very different game and we would not be comparing apples with apples

if you are already here, pondering on the game and have played previous versions and liked them plus you dig grand theft and / or LA Noire, then you have an easy choice to make. if you came here by mistake and just thoughts youd read the reviews to hold your hand in making a decision, they are somewhat misleading - this is actually a very good game indeed. i played it through. twice. and i am the type that gets bored extremely quickly. I have a high standard and am picky with my games; i always call a spade a spade. this is a king of spades.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remains to be beaten, 5 Sep 2012
So, I have played with this phone long enough, after owning a barage of other phones: iPhones, other samsungs, Nokia's, HTC's and what not.

This phone is the best one and i'll give you no less than 20 reasons why:

1) it has a quad core processor - navigation, google earth and any other app that needs heavy rendering is a breeze (dotn get the US version, it is only a dual core)
2) it has a super amoled, hd screen (FULL HD)
3) its battery lives long enough for a screen that large
4) its the most polished android version ever with the option to upgrade to jellybean etc
5) the screen is impressive
6) the gestures are second to none
7) its not a phone for end users (like the iPhone who need iTunes to sort out their music), this is a customizable powerhouse
8) perfect for testing android apps
9) games are amazing
10) 1000's of options
11) live back-grounds
12) free apps with all sorts of dev tools
13) the firefox browser, the best browser ever. period.
14) hardware buttons that make sense
15) fast bootup, fast shutdown
16) slim. slimmer. slimmest in its class
17) easy sync with pc
18) easy upgrades
19) super fast wireless capabilities, whether 3g or home wireless
20) sells well secondhand
21) has a luxurious feel
22) the cost of the phone is justified
23) samsung manufactures Apple's hardware
24) i dislike Apple's frantic endeavors to control everything

And these were off the top of my head. I'm getting a second one for work. Apple fanboys, bugger off - go and write positive reviews of the iPhone 4s and stop messing around with

Go. and. buy. it.

C-Rayz Walz is a beast on the mic. I have many of his albums and they all deliver. This one is a bit older but very eclectic and original...
