Star Wars Vintage Mace Windu Figure VC35 - Attack of the Clones

5.0 out of 5 stars Guess what? It is Jackson . . !, 5 Mar. 2012

Back in 1998, Mace Windu was the first Star wars figure from the prequel saga -- offered as a preview product. Over the years, Hasbro has re-visited the character time and again. Now, they outdid themselves.

The "vintage" collection entry of Mace Windu has a striking resemblance to the actor who portrayed the noble Jedi in episodes I, II, and III, Samuel L. Jackson. The toy is very detailed and comes with a "soft good" Jedi cloak and a purple lightsaber -- although the product image implies differently.

It surely belongs in any fan's collection of action figures!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hasbro does take care -- even for minor characters . . !, 5 Mar. 2012
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This excellent figure is a fine example of the level of quality and attention for details that Hasbro has achieved over the years -- and that the company applies to all of its Star wars product.

Even, if it is just a nameless soldier from the icy wastelands of planet Hoth!

While Hasbro constantly offers a range of major characters from all of the movies in different outfits, the magic of Star wars surely is also based on the vast amount of bit players or extras that populate its galaxy. There are cantina patrons, droids, furry locals, gangsters, mine workers. And this toy -- an elaborate recreation of a trooper stationed at the rebels' Echo Base on Hoth -- shows how much Hasbro cares even for minor characters.

The sculpt is close to the ground crew members seen in the movie, The empire strikes back. The action figure is nicely detailed with its Hoth gear and can be put in exciting poses. As with all toys from the current "vintage" line, the fun starts with the packaging, though. Before freeing the Hoth trooper from its bubble, take a moment or two to admire the card-back design.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy in nostalgic packaging . . !, 14 Feb. 2012
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
Usually, I do not care for a package that a toy comes in. But in this case, the fun indeed starts with the nostalgic packaging. Hasbro has re-created the look of the boxes and blister cards of Star wars past for its current line of toys that collectors love so much. The 1980s style fits perfectly well with a shot of modern toys posed just like their vintage counterparts on the box: the snowy landscape, the Hoth-themed figures, and the Tauntaun, of course.

Speaking of the Tauntaun: of course this is a fantastic toy. It is very detailed and can be posed way better than the original 1980 toy or later incarnations of it. The beast is a spitting image of its movie counterpart from The empire strikes back and makes a very fine addition to any Star wars collection.

Note: Currently, there is no Luke Skywalker in Hoth battle gear being offered form Hasbro -- the one on the box dates a few years back, I think. However, a new version of that particular figure was announced for April, 2012. So if You should decide to buy this icy beast of burden now, You should be able to fit it with a rider soon . . !

5.0 out of 5 stars The best . . ., 26 Jan. 2012
Clearly, the second series of BBC's Sherlock must be among the best British television productions ever. Storytelling, directing, acting, musical score -- everthing about this program is outstanding. The excellence of the production is perfectly mirrored in the quality of this blu-ray disc: the picture quality is awesome; one of the finest discs I've ever watched.

Now, where can I preorder the series 3 blu-ray . . ?

Les Aventures De Tintin
Les Aventures De Tintin

4.0 out of 5 stars Tintins musical adventures, 21 May 2003
This review is from: Les Aventures De Tintin (Audio CD)
The animated series "Les aventures de Tintin" is a well done adaption of the famous Hergé comic books. And the series' soundtrack is just fine.
The music is not as good as it could be, but that is mostly for the use of synthesizers in many of the tracks. The melodies themselves are OK! The main title which is performed by an orchestra is outstanding and perfectly reflects what "...Tintin" is all about: adventure, discovery and personal growth.
The other tracks on this volume mostly represent locations and occasions and are used as background music in the respective episodes. As they are not linked to specific events or actions, they are more easy to listen to as to common tracks of film music.
This CD does not only need to be regarded as the soundtrack of the television series, but as the soundtrack of the original comic books as well!

4.0 out of 5 stars Endless, scary fun, 8 May 2003
What an extra-ordinary, hilarius set of movies. Enjoying both "Ghostbusters" and "Ghostbuster II" back to back united on a VHS tape is a great fun...and a great bargain!
Both movies are classics and feature Bill Murry at his best. The plots are humorous, but not ludicrous. A group of unemployed scientists start a ghostbusting agency in New York and save the city from destruction by weird, powerful, disembodied entities...twice.
While "Ghostbusters II" is in part sort of a remake of the first movie, it does contain some fresh ideas and mainly works because of the five-years-later effect – we meet the characters from the first movie again and see what has become of them.
