5.0 out of 5 stars nothings shocking, 24 April 2011
This review is from: Wetlands (Paperback)
The book cover itself says its a marmite book you either love it or hate it. Most of the reviews that are one star reviews say it is shocking for the sake of being shocking and other cliches sorry but I did not find it shocking but funny and humane a reclaiming of our bodies and the reality of them from the media's idea of what is right and proper. So I would say give it a go and if you don't like it fair enough but don't be put off by the endless cliches of the other reviewers.

5.0 out of 5 stars do not listen to the haters, 24 April 2011
This review is from: Monsters [DVD] [2010] (DVD)
Watched this the other night and was very imperssed have since read reviews and it seems anyone who likes it is accussed of being some marketing person or friend of the directors. I find this strange as the people who claim to hate it all say the same things using the same phrases etc seems more like a spiteful hate campaign for what reason who knows. The film is well acted, the monster effects are subtle and well done and it is full of social and political metaphor all in all for a low budget film its excellent. Its not a monster movie in the hollywood tradition replete with CGI overkill and ridiculous action so if thats what you want its not for you however if you want an intelligent atmospheric film with real human characters instead of cliched cardboard cutouts then give it a go.

4.0 out of 5 stars oh my god, 19 April 2011
This review is from: The Beyond [DVD] [1981] (DVD)
have read all the other reviews/comments and all i can say is i could'nt care less this is probably one of the worst made films i have ever seen wooden acting atrociuos music nonsense ploting poor script if there even was one and special effects that seem like a school project involving papier mache and loads of ketchup that said i really enjoyed it as it is so funny albeit unintentionally? this is probably about as scary/horrific as an episode of seseme street.

1.0 out of 5 stars please listen, 17 April 2011
This review is from: Hex: Season 1 [DVD] [2004] (DVD)
really amazed at other reviews of this, its painfully slow confused storyline goes nowhere really in 4 hours and 20 minutes if this was anything like buffy angel etc it would be wrapped up in 45 minutes. also the characters apart from thelma were all very dull and lacked any depth which is not good for a lead character especially all in all don't waste your money or 4 hours of your life you won't get it back.

1.0 out of 5 stars bored, 17 April 2011
This review is from: Outcasts [DVD] (DVD)
Have to agree with all the negative reviews this failed miserably, i only watched 2 episodes but could not find any reason to punish myself by watching further. This was totally boring and badly written by people who clearly do not understand how to write drama and really have no idea about sci-fi. Full of patronising plot holes which from the sound of other reviews only got worse paper thin characters and complete lack of any dramatic interest it was a sad waste of time. The bbc is not noted for being innovative and maybe should get some acknowledgement for trying something different rather than the endless crime shows and period dramas just a shame it failed so badly.

3.0 out of 5 stars anti drugs ?, 18 Feb. 2011
This review is from: Christiane F. [DVD] (DVD)
Watched this film at school at 14 years of age as part of a social studies class and have to say the general reaction from classmates was that it quite glamorized drug use. It is a good film but have to say as with trainspotting it can have quite the opposite effect to what was intended 3 former classmates are dead as a result of drug abuse and this film did not stop them becoming interested it only made them more curious about drugs.

2.0 out of 5 stars not a classic, 18 Feb. 2011
I found this pretty poor, easy and dull platforming and the shooting sections dull and repetative. I also frequently found myself being shot while clearly well hidden behind a wall this just makes the combat irritating and at times inconsistant some enemies go down with one shot while others seem quite capable of taking multiple heads shots and keep on coming. The game certainly looks good but it becomes very repetative its also very short i completed it after about 6 hours on the day of purchase and sold it on ebay the next day as i felt no desire to go back to it. The sequel looks much improved but have been a little put off buying it because of this.
