1.0 out of 5 stars Simply the worst film I have ever seen, 14 July 2012
This review is from: John Carter [DVD] (DVD)
I am amazed at how many employees of the Disney company seem to have amazon accounts, and give this huge pile of festering of nonsense five stars.
the special effects are beautiful and if they just left it as that it would be great, but in all honesty Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins could not act the role of a bad actors playing the roles of bad actors in a film about bad actors acting badly ....about acting. The costumes looked like something out of Flash Gordon. I expected Brian Blessed to come in left of screen and shout 'Dive my Hawkmen Dive!!!' Basically it comes down to this uncle Walts old company practicing onanism all over the CGI and then realizing they actual had a pile of dialogue that some numpty actor needed to deliver . but, If you want scenes where you want your actors to act get some actors that can, then you need a good story adaptation, which you have to do if your story is over a hundred years old, something they didn't, or you can just go for a CGI spectacle like star wars and no one cares about the acting, this is what Stanton should have done and reduce the acting to zero.

I watched 'Princess of Mars (2009)' on the scifi channel. Its a sad day when I have to announce that Traci Lords, is a fractionally better actress than Lynn Collins. The more the taste of John Carter lingers in my mouth the more bitter it turns.

How To Have A Beautiful Mind
How To Have A Beautiful Mind

3.0 out of 5 stars I kind of like this book BUT, 15 Feb. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
you will not get a beautiful mind from this, people will not find you more attractive. With suggestions like 'talk about topics of local interest' you will not seem attractive you will appear potentially as the local know-it-all bell-end that everyone in the street wants to avoid. This is not about beauty this is about getting the average nerdy mathematical physicist to the same level of social skills as an IT technician. I think Edwards idea of beauty is not the same as the average human. However, with the amount of cash he has by knocking out a book a year and then selling courses to millionaires about the book that they did not have time to read or could not understand he must be a magnet to all a sundry.

1.0 out of 5 stars I was liking it right up until the end, 14 Jan. 2012
This review is from: The Infidel [2010] [DVD] (DVD)
spoiler coming up, What a cop out the Islamic fundamentalist is actually an 80's pop star with racist views. WHAT!!! so Badiel and Omid can't come up with a rational argument against irrational prejudice now that is very sad, so they have to descend into a mire of cheap plot devices to end the story.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not lateral thinking puzzles, 28 Dec. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These are not not lateral thinking puzzles but more often than not require obscure precise knowledge of specific fields to an academic level. This is not lateral thinking this is specific field knowledge... people who set themselves up as experts in lateral thinking and devise puzzles should first ask themselves the very unlateral question' what is a lateral thinking puzzle?' firstly a puzzle that can be solved thus, devise as many possible solutions as possible, remove all solutions one by one referring to specific data contained in the question, then remove solutions because of what specific information of groups of specific information implies. Another way is by grouping data in the question resolving implications and inventing solutions based on those implication. NO SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE THAT GOES BEYOND THE AVERAGE SECONDARY SCHOOL LEAVER SHOULD BE REQUIRED. I just wish the average inventor of lateral thinking puzzles could stop showing off their pompous levels of arcane academic information and get back to what LATERAL means in this case, creatively finding the possible within the obscure. Not uncreatively using the obscure to make something impossible.

Guitar Hero 5 - Guitar Bundle (PS3)
Guitar Hero 5 - Guitar Bundle (PS3)

1.0 out of 5 stars Guitar came but no came, 19 Sept. 2011
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The guitar arrived but no game and on phoning Amazon they said instead of just sending out the game like any sensible organisation would do they would need me to send back a perfectly good guitar costing me money and reorder another until they gave me the money back, when I said why could they not send me out just the game they said that even though the bundle is packaged at their warehouse the actual product is owned by another company when I ask could I contact that company the woman on the line said they don't have a telephone number for them. When I said what happens if the next one ordered has no game in she said i would have to send it back again. I repeatedly asked for a supervisor and was fobbed off until I complained that I had asked to speak to one twice and it had been refused. In the end I spoke to a supervisor and he gave me a credit note for the game when I showed him that the effort and cost to amazon in ordering reordering and postage compared to the wholesale price of the game made it no economic sense not to send it. However it cost me £4 in mobile charges.
I would no more order this bundle again than fly to the moon.

1.0 out of 5 stars So many 5 star reviews from people who have never given reviews befor, 28 Aug. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Its just a rehash of the seven Samurai is this guy ever going to come up with anything original, it's just amazing how he has gotten away with this for so many volumes! I am just waiting until Jack goes blind in the snow and becomes a wandering masseur. I'm not saying it's bad I'm just saying its stolen and unlike the 'magnificent seven' or 'battle beyond the stars' he can't even be bothered to change the setting! This is lazy writing at best and at worst is this questionably plagiarism?

1.0 out of 5 stars I liked the others but this one just dragged, 29 July 2011
Boring and slow hard to read compared to the others, and frankly I am a little bored at this guys pinching of old Japanese films to come up with stories, whats next Jack needing to recruit 6 other samurai to defend a village from bandits or jack temporarily blinded and needing to earn money as a masseur or maybe he will be handed a baby and a cart and roam the country side. Can he please come up with an original story line.
