1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful cabaret live album, 14 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Ultimate Collection (Audio CD)
It's a live album which wasn't clear on purchase.. in some cheesy lounge bar by the sound of it. Avoid like the plague

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor, 14 July 2013
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Cars 2 (Nintendo DS) (Video Game)
Virtually unplayable. Nice graphics but any small kid will never play it - simply too hard and tricky. Compare this to say Mario titles and the lack of playability for a car game is shocking,.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not moving cars, but my 4 year old loves them all the same, 10 May 2012
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
As the other reviews say, these are figures, not cars with moving wheels

However.. my son loved them and has played with nothing else since. Maybe better for younger children than older ones
And shoddy packaging from Disney in not making it clear.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very very disappointing, 6 Jun 2006
This review is from: Fundamental (Audio CD)
As a long standing fan of the PSB's, I was really looking forward to "Fundamental", especially when Trevor Horn decided to produce it. Also, their last proper album "Release" had been one of their very best.

Sadly, Fundamental is the worst proper album of their career, only a snatch behind the abysmal Disco 3 out of all their releases.

There are snippets of their old selves here, but the impression I get is that the songwriting has gone walkabout. Neil Tennants lyrics are a shadow of their usual selves, reaching a nadir on "Casanova in Hell", possibly one of the worst tracks they have ever made.

The melodies are not up to scratch either. Burn the 2 or 3 best tracks by all means, but the lacklustre single "I'm with stupid" is a taster for the rest of a lacklustre album I'm afraid..

5.0 out of 5 stars The best PSB album ever, 3 Feb 2006
This review is from: Behaviour (Audio CD)
This is truly a breathtaking work. At the time, it didn't sell as well as their 80's output, but in retrospect this is the finest work of the PSB's career.
Lyrically, Neil Tennant hit his peak on Behaviour. Also, the arrangements have not been matched since.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Stuff, 3 Feb 2006
This review is from: Introspective (Audio CD)
This is arguably the Pet Shop Boys just before they peaked with Behaviour.
Introspective is not a proper full length work, but contains extended versions of some of their better known works. Always on my mind, Domino Dancing and Left to my own devices are all on here, all in their full length top notch version.
Also included is I want a dog, previously an unheralded b side but on here is transformed by a magnificent Frankie Knuckles remix. The PSB's original version of I'm not scared is also on here, which is marvellous, as good as Patsy Kensits cover.
All in all, this is the peak of the PSB's "80's" phase and is definitely a peak of their career.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvellous, 3 Feb 2006
This review is from: Fifth Column (Audio CD)
Never heard of this band before I have to confess, but saw them supporting Franz Ferdinand in December 2005 at Alexandra Palace. On the back of that I bought Fifth Column. And what a surprise!
On first listening what strikes you is how underproduced it sounds - It sounds much like their live performance, even down to the hiss in the background. However, the sheer enthusiasm and quality of the songs shines through, and "Fifth Column" is a truly outstanding work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Heartbeat a nice song, but the rest is SOOO dull, 3 Feb 2006
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Veneer (Audio CD)
I bought this on the back of hearing Heartbeat - A lovely song agreed, and from the reviews on here it seemed as though the rest of "Veneer" would be worth listening to.
Sadly, whilst much of Veneer is pleasant to listen to, ultimately it is very very dull. There is nothing on there of the quality of Heartbeat, so this is the classic case of a mediocre quality work being promoted by an advert.
Avoid

2.0 out of 5 stars A poor album - bar Creep, 9 Dec 2005
This review is from: Pablo Honey (Audio CD)
listening to this now, you would never think Radiohead became what they did. Pablo Honey is a dull work, with only the brilliance of Creep to show what would come after.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's good, but not as good as people say here, 2 Jan 2005
The Ross Noble DVD is pretty funny for sure, and I would recommend getting it - However, not a patch on say, Peter Kay live. Ross meanders off on his own tangent which is funny sometimes but also not that funny frequently, so would beware.
I suggest Ross needs to write a bit of material to go with his "free-form" stuff, and then perhaps he will crack it completely.
