4.0 out of 5 stars Good - a wide range of aspects of globalisation explored, and thoroughly, 21 April 2012

Bayly's book brings together some of the most able historians of global history in order to explore how conceptions of our world as a whole have changed, and are continuing to change. Not all of the articles are of equal standard, but even the weaker ones provide some fresh insight, not just another summary of existing work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible value, 29 April 2011

This review is from: Original Album Classics (Audio CD)
Anyone of these CDs is probably worth about 7-9 so to get all for this price is a bargain! The music itself is, as always from Lou Reed, excellent, with a decent mix of the mainstream 'Transformer' and a couple of CDs which are a bit further off the beaten track.

An excellent purchase - go for it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, not great, 22 April 2011
I've had these headphones for a while now, a little over six months, and am generally happy with them. The build is very sturdy and this was one of the things that attracted me to them - the similarly priced Bose models feel a bit too flimsy.
The bass is really very impressive for an 'on-ear' model, but the treble leaves a little to be desired. Whilst there is a lot of differentiation in notes at the lower end, at the upper things can become a bit homogeneous.
The volume control built in is useful, as is the handsfree element, but they only work on newer MP3s and Apple computers, and seem to struggle with controlling Microsoft-based products.
It might just be me, but I did not find these headphones especially comfortable when used extensively - say above an hour or two. On a short commute or walk they're fine, but after a while they were just a bit too tight and the leather-bound padding a little too firm.

All in all a good product, but possibly not worth the high price-tag. If they money's OK, you listen to bass-heavy music and you're not likely to use them for long periods of time, go for it. If not, I'd try another set.

Excellent collection of essay fragments on Othello. Can be used either on its own to collect critical theory from, or as a starting point to explore more detailed criticism.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, 20 Sep 2010

I ordered these headphones to use whilst jogging. As a result of the clip they stay in the ear without any issues. They aren't that comfortable, however, especially when they are used for a long time. The adjustability of the clip felt gimicky and unnecessary to me, but that may not be the case for everyone.

The sound quality is as you'd expect for the price. There is a fair bit on tinniness, but as long as audio-fidelity isn't what you're looking for while you work out, they'll do just fine.

Overall, more than acceptable for jogging etc., but probably not good enough in either build or audio quality to replace normal headphones.
