5.0 out of 5 stars Nice balance of gentle introduction to Erlang with rigour, 10 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is not for someone coming to coding for the first time, but if you have a reasonable knowledge of the basics this is an excellent book for making the move. My only minor disappointment was there was no mention of C# or .NET, but Java is similar enough to C# for the illustrations to work. Highly recommended as a way to get started with Erlang.

5.0 out of 5 stars oldie but goodie, 28 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An excellent text with lots of examples and a broad range of problems. This may be an old book now, but it remans a very clear and intuitive introduction to probability and statistics without sacrificing much rigour. It would be great if there were an accompanying solutions book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rather poor, 15 Mar. 2010
This is a lazy book. There are large segments of irrelevant code that fill page space, typos are widespread and more importantly non-obvious detail points are presented in bullet form with no explanation. It isn't a tutorial, nor is it a good introduction to EF.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, 20 Aug. 2007
This is a well written book with useful practical advice. Manages to cover the basics but also some cutting edge ideas. It is concise and to the point. My only (minor) criticism is that I felt the chapter on typography was a little short on opinion and practical advice on choosing a schema, the topic of styling different tags is an important one in the overall design of the site and would have benefited from a more considered treatment. Having said that however, I cannot recommend this book highly enough - absolutely first rate.
