2.0 out of 5 stars Splash out for more expensive tablet, 15 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I brought it for my children to stop them trying to take my iPad all the time but didn't want something expensive that might get broken.

Firstly, this is VERY laggy. I had to do a complete factory reset within the first few hours of using as it was so slow and with hardly any apps installed was unusable. After the reset it did respond better, still not great but for the price you can't really grumble. The camera is pointless, it's only forward facing and the picture quality is below par but I didn't buy it for that so not bothered. Music and video playback seem ok but the picture quality isn't fabulous. Internet browsing is sufficient.

Essentially I am using this as a device for my kids to play apps on so it is acceptable but were I to need more out of it I would have definitely sent this back and splashed out for a slighter pricier tablet that could cope with the demands. For young children it is also a pain because it doesn't have the home key as a button outside of the screen, it is part of the screen so it is very easy for them to accidentally press it during games which causes headaches having to constantly restart the game.

I cannot fault the company who sent the tablets however, they were super fast and arrived within 48 hours of ordering.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute but very short, 9 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The books themselves are ok and the stories enjoyable (so I was told) though I had no idea how short these were. I had brought them from my eldest daughter (9) who is a major bookworm and almost didn't give them to her because I knew they wouldn't last her five minutes. As expected, she was soon handing them over to her younger sister inside of a weekend.

Taking this into consideration it was a lot to spend for something that didn't last long but for a younger child who isn't such a fast reader these would be a perfect little gift set, the charm bracelet is a nice touch.

The despatch and delivery were super fast.

4.0 out of 5 stars Informative, 2 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This does not overload you but gives a very good explanation of the key stages in scientific discovery. It notes all the key dates and people involved, I was impressed with how much info it crammed into such a small book actually. It keeps it's descriptions concise but thorough. Like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daughter approves, 2 April 2013

Apparently this is diary of a wimpy kid for girls and my 8yo seemed to suitably enjoy it and devoured the books very quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bargain!, 2 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: DK Animal Encyclopedia (Hardcover)
This is the type of book I would have loved as a child and I was probably more into it then my children! I got this used but in very good condition with only slight tear to spine that probably happened in transit. The book is hardback unlike what someone else stated. It's the perfect addition to my growing little educational library that will be useful for many years to come.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really?, 7 Aug 2012
This review is from: Fifty Shades of Grey (Paperback)
You know I never like to judge a book before reading so that's what I did. Now I wish I hadnt. What a load of tosh!!

Seriously, this is twilight without vampires with non stop sex. That's it. Oh and let's throw in some (extremely tame) bdsm for good measure to make bored housewives think they are risqué for having a pair of handcuffs. Pur-lease.

Ana is a remarkable virgin who apparently has never masterbated yet can orgasm at the drop of a hat or spoken word, not to mention her convenient non-existent gag reflex, she can perform like a porn star on her first try. Christian is perfect looking and like the energiser bunny. He just never gets tired! He isn't even put off by her monthly cycle. Gross.

She falls in love in five mins, Christian of course has to be damaged to be into kinky stuff, which really ticked me off. Both characters call him not 'normal' for his tastes. Excuse me, judgmental much. It's like the author just skimmed the Internet and gleaned what she could of the lifestyle. It's pathetic.

This is not romantic, a turn on or well written. I seriously cannot believe all the hype over it. I shall be skipping reading the rest of the trilogy. Save your money. If you must read, borrow it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Happens, 24 July 2012

The End.

What a waste of life. It's one of the most pointless movies of all time. I can't think of anything good about this movie. It's not scary, meaningful, funny, moving, it's blah. Just bad.

1.0 out of 5 stars What the heck was that?!, 24 July 2012
This review is from: Paranormal Activity [DVD] (DVD)
In what universe is this a scary movie? NOTHING happens, at all, for the entire movie.

It's like Blair Witch all over again.

Do not believe the hype.

3.0 out of 5 stars Best of the bunch, 24 July 2012
This review is from: Thor [DVD] (DVD)
Out of all the recent Avengers movies come out, Captain America bad, Hulk bad, Iron Man bad, you get my point...but this was actually the least bad of the bunch.

I think the fact that Thor is played by a mega hunk swayed my opinion somewhat but it was the most watchable movie of the lot in my view. My kids actually sat through it without getting completely bored out of their minds.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wanted to like this, 24 July 2012
This review is from: 30 Days Of Night [DVD] (DVD)
I really really wanted to like this. The build up to the vampires arriving was good and suspenseful, and Josh is easy on the eye. I, unfortunately, do not like my vampires mindless. In the sense that I like them to talk and kill for a reason other than just splatter the place in gallons of blood.

I remember seeing this the first time in the cinema and there were way too many young teens in there for my liking, I was amazed this only got a 15 certificate based on the amount of slaughter going on but maybe I'm just getting old?!

Although I did think this was scary in parts and was well acted and believable, for me I just couldn't get past my own likes/dislikes for the genre. If you kill everything and anything in sight what do you feed on? I've never got this logic to the big bad monsters.

That being said, I have watched this movie more than once, it's good for late night when there isn't much else on but I watch it for what it is not because it's a vampire movie, for me that is where is fails.
