5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Bandai, 3 Jan 2013

These Pokémon figures from Hasbro in the 90's are much better than the more recent Bandai range. They're to a nice scale, small but collectable. They're beautifully crafted with few paint errors (unlike most Bandai products) and are quite durable. Great for both play and collecting. It's a shame Hasbro stopped making them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Digimon Fan's Dream, 3 Jan 2013
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Digimon Light Up Keyring (Toy)
A product many Digimon fans of the 90's and early 2000's have been seeking for some time, this tag/crest makes quite a nice little necklace, cosplay item, toy or general decoration. It seems to be to scale with the anime, it features eight crests which can be swapped out pretty easily and it lights up when squeezed. The one problem with it is the dispersion of light. The bulb is very focussed and the light completely cancels out the image of the crest on the front, and the bulb stands out quite a bit even when it's not activated making the crest somewhat hard to make out. It does cast a nice shadow of the crest, though.
So don't spend hundreds on badly made cosplay props on eBay when this excellent reproduction is available officially for a reasonable price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! Where's the rest?, 22 Oct 2012
Amazing series! Love it! Glad to finally see it on DVD! The DVD is well composed, the story is great - it's all fantastic.
Just two gripes really... Where's the rest? Season one ends half-way through a story arc, which is picked up in season two. Where's season two? Shout Factory have said they have no plans to release it so that's pretty stupid. Another gripe is the arrangement of the episodes. They're arranged according to American airdate, which had various continuety issues and means a few episodes considered "filler" are absent.
Otherwise... Fantastic! We just need the next season now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spanking, 14 Sep 2012
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This action figure is a really good, appropriately sturdy recreation of the Daleks that appeared in 'Power of the Daleks' - a classic Doctor Who episode starring Patrick Troughton. This Dalek also featured in 'Asylum of the Daleks' starring Matt Smith.
The joints on the figure are sturdy (though will loosen with frequent play) fitted quite snugly, a great improvement on the New Paradigm and Progenitor Guardian Daleks which were flimsy and horribly loose.
The phrases from the Dalek sound like Nicholas Briggs rather than the voice of the original Daleks, but this is fair enough and Briggs has a great voice for Daleks. The phrases are taken from the general era rather than a precise episode and are shared word-for-word with the 'Dalek Invasion of Earth' Dalek. Pressing the sound button twice causes the Dalek to cry "Exterminate!" which is followed by the original Dalek gun sound effect from that era, a nice piece of nostalgia for older fans and an intriguing variation for younger fans.

In short, a great action figure.

The dish on the back appears slightly more shallow than it should be, but I could be remembering incorrectly. This does little to detract from the majesty of this imposing space-Nazi however.
In short, a great action figure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Helpful!, 9 Sep 2012

A really helpful guide to character design from a collection of amazing artists. It filled in a lot of the gaps that my university failed to mention and sparked a previously lacking enthusiasm. It is written in a very one-on-one talk kind of way that makes it feel like you're learning from an artist rather than just sitting reading a book. It also provides fun and educational exercises to keep you active - art is an active thing, after all!
For all future character designers who are serious about perusing a career - read this book!

1.0 out of 5 stars Doctor Who: The Eternity of Restarting Because The Game Crashed, 4 Aug 2012
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Positives:
The plot is brilliant, the writing is great, the acting is marvellous, the graphics are orgasmic and the comedy is genius.

Negatives:
A monkey could program a game more competently. This game is RIDDLED with glitches and bugs. River failing to respond, characters slipping through walls, autosaves and trophies causing the game to crash... And just now, I got killed by a Dalek and respawned at the start of the level again but the elevator I had to use failed to return to its default position - so I was permanently stuck! I couldn't even get another Dalek to turn around and shoot me dead - I had to wait five minutes while the timer counted down. I can stand losing because of my own ability, but not due to poor programming. This game could have been AMAZING if the programmers had done a better job. I'd love to know how the BETA testers actually went on. I bet they were either a bunch of yes-men, or were entirely ignored before release.

Final say:
Don't waste your money. Watch someone else play it on YouTube and treat it like watching an episode of Doctor Who. As an instalment in the series, it's fantastic. As a game, it's awful. The glitches and bugs are more frustrating than the game is entertaining. Sorry, Doctor Who team, but you failed as hard on this as you did with the final Adventure Games instalment. Try harder next time, please.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not As Expected, 1 Aug 2012
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
Well I searched for leather collars under CLOTHING so when I found this cat collar I thought it would be perfect for my friend who acts like a cat!
Unfortunately the collar was too small so he was unprotected by this reflective collar and seriously injured whilst darting across the road in the middle of the night. Very unsuitable clothing.
Avoid!

1.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced Crap, 15 July 2012
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
You're paying for the Pokémon brand name, not a quality product.
The binder is cheaply made, nasty, disgusting and doesn't hold many cards. The pages are poorly bound and cards slip out easily. The pages are entirely clear, which looks cheap and nasty and make for a terrible way to display your cards.
Listen guys, buy the blank ULTRA PRO BINDERS from Magicmadhouse on eBay. They're cheaper and hold more cards (at least two sets of releases). They're nicer to look at with a nice black backing on each page which also holds the cards in place without making it hard to insert or remove them.

In short,
If you're a proper collector, get the Ultra Pro binders - your cards will look better for them.
If you're just looking for a quick and tacky way to get your cards out of the way, I suppose this product will do but you'll end up spending more and getting less.

1.0 out of 5 stars Utter Drivel, 6 July 2012
This review is from: 2012 [DVD] [2010] (DVD)
A lot of the time, I find myself complaining that there's nothing watchable on TV and have recently turned to DVDs of things that generally aren't on because apparently they're too amazing for the average television network. I ended up watching this particular movie, and I think I may just have to exorcize my DVD player, sell my TV and move to another planet.
Never have I been so insulted and offended by the sheer awfulness of something until I had the misfortune to see this film. The pseudo-science that not even a toddler would believe, the terrible plot, the poor writing, the absolute disgrace to history, the terrible directing... I actually feel like I have paid a man to come into my house, stoop over my face and defecate into my eyes. Not only that, but he also rolled my onto my side and proceeded to defecate into each of my ears and steal additional money from my wallet before raping my family and breaking a few things on his way out. If this kind of movie is what people are enjoying these days, I'm out. No more.
