Great Barrier Reef [Blu-ray]
Great Barrier Reef [Blu-ray]
Dvd ~ Monty Halls
Price: 7.11

4.0 out of 5 stars very informative and visually stunning, 28 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My wife and I enjoyed watching this 3-episode Blu-ray. It's remarkably well filmed and visually stunning. The footage of sharks eating turtles was really interesting - they appear to have mounted a camera on the unfortunate turtle (which as already dead, it seems). My only criticism would be that it lacks a developing narrative to tie the episodes together and to differentiate them from each other. The episodes become "more of the same" after a while. Still, I am glad I bought it and I recommend it to others. I don't know if it's available in 3D but that would be really something.

The Politics Of Money. Second Edition
The Politics Of Money. Second Edition

2.0 out of 5 stars an important message but nothing new. Badly written, 28 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The central message of this book is important, i.e. that the fiat currency system is milking the middle classes and will fall apart soon and that one must protect ones'self by acquiring physical gold and silver, especially silver. OK, but you can get this information for free by reading or watching countless interviews with the likes of Paul Craig Roberts on USAWatchdog, King World News etc. I have read far better books on this subject by Michael Pento (How to survive the coming bond market collapse), Jim Rickards (The death of money) and Mitch Feierstein (Planet Ponzi), which are available on Kindle, unlike this book.
And what about the grammar? Surely no self-respecting author of an English-language book could really think that the plural of "asset" is "asset's" or that the possessive case of "company" is "companies". He does not know the difference between, their and there, hear and here, herd and heard or surf and serf. The charts are only semi-legible. The punctuation is deplorable. He uses adjectives where adverbs are required. Mr Mannarino, you cannot be serious! Get a proof-reader, please! Also, he doesn't provide the source references for any of the facts and figures that he uses - not very professional, IMO.

The Death of Money: The Coming Collapse of the International Monetary System
The Death of Money: The Coming Collapse of the International Monetary System

5.0 out of 5 stars fascinating, informative, worrying, 10 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
this book gives a superlative explanation of how and why the world's monetary system, based on the ubiquitous use of the US$ for trade, is going to the dogs. It describes the system which might replace it, i.e. a two-tier system with the IMF's Special Drawing Rights at the top layer with national currencies at the underlying layer. It explains why leading nations will need gold reserves for this system to work. But it also tells why the present system will, in all likelihood, not survive long enough for the new system to be brought in in an orderly manner. I found the chapters dealing with China's economy (and their thirst for gold) especially interesting, as their problems will greatly contribute to the coming financial chaos.

A riveting but appalling expose of how international finance works. An essential read for anyone wishing to understand global economics and why the khakh is going to hit the fan quite soon. Its very readable and I thoroughly recommend it.

Going South: Why Britain will have a Third World Economy by 2014
Going South: Why Britain will have a Third World Economy by 2014
Price: 9.02

5.0 out of 5 stars Scary but fascinating and educational, 3 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A very interesting and verifiable account of how Britain is regressing to being a third-world country. It is well thought out and presented in a very logical and rational style, without being in the least stuffy or dull. The history of our regression is followed and explained from 1914 until 2014. The events of 2014 are predictions, since the book was written a year of two ago. The authors predict a gradual slide into third world status, rather than a rapid collapse. Warning - you will not be a happier person after reading this book. But perhaps you will become a better informed and better prepared person.

I bought this a couple of years ago now (I think) and it still looks good. You can get a lot of knives in it and it's easy to insert and withdraw them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvellous concert, well-recorded and edited, 3 Jun 2014

This review is from: Live in London [DVD] [NTSC] (DVD)
I just love this concert. He and his backing musicians and singers are still the bee's knees. This DVD is very well recorded and the editing is great. I went to see him live at the O2 in 2012 (I think it was 2012) and it was a life-affirming experience. The concert on this DVD, recorded in 2008, is a nice reminder of that later concert that I attended.

5.0 out of 5 stars works well. Looks good. No technical problems, 3 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It does what it is supposed to do and looks good. So far I have used it for watches, spectacles (with plastic, prescription lenses) and various items of jewellery. I only used Fairy liquid, i.e. not the proprietary cleaning solution. Everything came up sparkling clean and it has not damaged anything so far, after several months of use.

Django Unchained (Blu-ray + UV Copy) [2013]
Django Unchained (Blu-ray + UV Copy) [2013]
Dvd ~ Jamie Foxx
Price: 7.10

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic western. Excellent plot, acting etc. Add it to the collection, 3 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
ok, the idea of getting pin-point accuracy with a mid-19th century handgun is ludicrous, but that's a standard Western fallacy. Other than that, what a marvellous movie! The three main actors, as shown on the package, are all excellent. What a marvellous performance from Leonardo de Caprio as the gentlemanly but sadistic slave-owner, from Christoph Walz as the clever and ruthless German dentist cum bounty hunter and Jamie Foxx as hard-done-by hot-shot ex-slave Django. As per typical for Quentin Tarantino, there is a plentiful supply of whimsical characters, horrible villains and plot twists of one kind or another. The plot and the sets are wonderful. What a great movie. Well worth adding to the collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars marvellous and all the better in Blu-Ray, 3 Jun 2014

This move is so well known as to need no review, other than to say that it is even better in Blu-Ray with 5.1 sound. Even more riveting than the DVD version. Well worth the extra money.
