Edition: Paperback
Price: £22.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, 24 Jan. 2013
This book changed my way of thinking.
It introduces you a new perspective in which code born from other code that consumes it.
You'll not realize how you can lived without it until now!

To be honest before purchasing (some years ago, sorry for late review), I had already read a lot about TDD on the web.
Anyway the book cover also refactoring really well.

I use Java too and this principles can be applied also to this world, not just .NET.

Do not miss!

4.0 out of 5 stars Demystify IL generation, 11 Jan. 2013
The book is written fluently and is really clear. It presents an excellent IL coverage. Emitting IL for a compiler is a completely different 'beast' than doing it for basic support tasks.
Academic lexer / parser construction is also explained and tied to CLR development context. Some details are left to further investigation but this is after all more than acceptable.
I would have preferred to see compiler code in C#. During the book the author guides the reader in the creation of pascal-like .NET language. This is OK, but what I disliked (hence 4 star) is that compiler snippets are also written using the same syntax that the compiler accepts.
Formally this could bring some confusion and objectively this is not the best didactic choice.
Anyway if you're going to develop your CLR compiler or scripting language host, don't miss it!
