Scuderia Ferrari GTB - C Mens Leather Watch 0830198
Scuderia Ferrari GTB - C Mens Leather Watch 0830198
Offered by Francis and Gaye
Price: £136.50

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Ferrari Watch, looks a million dollars, or o-60 in under 3 seconds, 13 July 2016
This Scuderia Ferrari watch is exceptional. I have seen the prices vary from £57.99-£271. The bezel (case around the glass) has a beautiful rose colour gold inlay, backed with brushed, slightly burnished, silver steel. The Ferarri motif (prancing horse) on the watch face is golden coloured but catches the light and seems to change colour (i.e. it can look darker); the face is predominantly dark (like a very dark charcoal grey) Two of the three mini multi dials are for the chronograph, whilst the third shows twenty four hour time. Also, two of these mini dials are designed to evoke the engine and oil pressure gauges found on a Ferrari dashboard - great touch. There is a nice mix of colour on the face, with three red hands (second, chronograph and twenty four hour time), plus four of the dot markings over the digits 12-3 are red; the remaining being white. The strap is dark brown leather with 'veins', advertised as crocodile skin with Ferrari stamp, and the clasp has a small Ferrari motif, too, as does the central crown (here it is black horse, set on yellow background). All of these touches give the watch a stylish retro feel. Lastly, the watch is waterproof to 50 metres. The presentation box was stunning, too, helping this make a really striking present/ purchase. The watch seems very well made, attention to detail, etc., but has the real air of great quality, too. I would really highly recommend this watch, but make sure that you shop around, as, amazingly, you can find them for under £60.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional playing, ethereal magic; highly recommended, 10 Jun. 2016

For Volume 1: Exceptional playing. I had not heard of Edinger before. I have a large number of Bach solo violin pieces (Szigeti, Heifetz, Milstein, Menuhin, Ehnes, Mullova, Grumiaux, etc.), and, without doubt, I would rate this in any of their leagues. I picked up a 'used' copy for 1p + £1.26 postage (I also have vol. 2, which was 'used', & 24p + £1.26 postage), and have been amazed by Edinger's brilliant, rich and sonorous tone and playing, and the quality of the recording, church-like acoustics, etc. So, extremely highly recommended. I really was very surprised at Edinger's exceptional quality not only because I was unfamiliar with her, but also such incredible playing is very, very rare. Lastly, Edinger plays on a 1632 Amati, which, to my ears, adds even more to this fantastically atmospheric recording. A real gem.

Really wonderful playing by Grumiaux. Immensely rich penetrating tone that communicates a profound soulful depth that is unsurpassed for these pieces especially.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rustic austerity, 20 May 2016
For those who love violin music, I would highly recommend Bach's sonatas and partitas, and, particularly, this version by Szigeti. For those who enjoy classical music in general, it is well worth purchasing these pieces - you will not have heard anything like them before. These violin solos really are beautiful pieces of music.

Though not as well known by moderns (or even older listeners) as Bell, Perlman, Milstein or Heifetz, Szigeti was a wonderful violinist, known for his intellect and intelligent playing. This is perfectly shown in his recordings of Bach's sonatas and partitas for solo violin. Slower in tempo than Heifetz's version, Szigeti communicates a certain austerity. His tone is rich, but not overly sweet, and his intonation is perfect.

If you like these, see: Biber's Mystery/ Rosary sonatas for solo violin; Bach's cello suites (especially played by Pablo Casals); film music for 'Tous les Matins du Monde' (with Jordi Savall on viola da gamba).

5.0 out of 5 stars Warm your cockles, 14 Feb. 2016

A wonderful little heater. I have just upgraded to a 16 iitre tank (from a 10 litre tank) with about 14 neon tetras. My previous 10w heater wasn't powerful enough for this new, slightly bigger tank. This 25w heater is suitable for tank size up to 25 litres. The price is extremely reasonable (£7.25 through Prime, so with speedy postage - mine came in two days). The heater has an easy to use heat setter on the top, so you can set it to the exact temperature that you want; it reached the desired temperature very quickly. The heater also came with a complementary thermometer - nothing fancy, but still useful (& free). I would highly recommend this heater, but make sure that you have taken into account tank requirements, as the size of the tank dictates the power of the required heater. This is on the box: 25w = 25 litres; 50w = 50 litres; 100w = 100 litres, etc. And, the way to work out tank capacity is to multiply (in cm, which equates to ml) length, height & width. So, mine is 40cm (l) x 20cm (h) x 20cm (w) = (16,000 cm/ ml divided by 100 = ) 16 litres. Also remember, that you may not be filling the tank right to the top, so just measure the water level height, then multiply this by length & width for your tank capacity & heater needs. Don't worry. This is actually very easy to work out. So, highly recommended, easy to use & excellent quality/ value. NB. I have since bought a 100w for my son's 100 litres tank, and am equally delighted.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rare gem, 19 Dec. 2015

Brilliant value selection of actual scripts from classic British cinema. Included scripts: Brief Encounter; The Third man; Kind Hearts & Coronets; Saturday Night & Sunday morning; also with an introduction by John Russell Taylor. 352 pages in total. I bought this 'blind' - there was no indication as to whether it was the actual scripts or, in fact, essays on the films. I was looking for the 'Kind Hearts' script after watching the wonderful film with Dennis Price & Alec Guinness (recently, I bought an Ealing Comedy Box set (The Best Of Ealing Studios Collection [DVD]) which included this film and a few others for about ten pounds). Usually, the plays individually, if you can find them, would cost much more. So, highly recommended book of scripts (I paid under three pounds, including postage); I'd also highly recommend the Ealing Comedy Box set, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warm Fires & Sweet Lollipops, 5 Dec. 2015

Honeyed tones and beautiful salon music ('lollipops'). Highly recommended for Grumiaux's warm brilliance and the charm of the selection of short pieces. Those that enjoy smooth melodious violin music will love this. Grumiaux is a lesser known past master. His playing is extremely beautiful, and conveys a nostalgic, characterful warmth. I would also highly recommend his Beethoven Violin Concerto (Favourite Violin Concertos), his Bach, J.S.: Complete Sonatas & Partitas for Solo Violin, and his Bach: Violin Concertos, BWV1041-1043 & 1060 - all can be found for great value - about £5.

Extremely easy to set up, but make sure you have an HDMI TV; also, note, when inputting your password, that this is case sensitive. Loads of excellent free films, TV series, etc., if you are an Amazon Prime customer. You also have the option to rent/ buy other films, etc. I don't intend to buy any films for two reasons: 1) there is such a great selection of free films, and 2) I bought this primarily for my 'Top Gear' loving son who misses the 'un-busy' Clarkson, Hammond, May trio, who will now be reunited on and under Prime. Highly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars A special recording, 31 Aug. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
In my opinion, beautiful playing. At time of writing, I have listened to the first disc (it has been incorrectly noted as one cd; there are two), and found Kagan's live performance excellent. It is especially moving because, as noted by the other reviewer, sadly he died soon after - I think in his early 40s. There is applause after the end of pieces, but I found this added to the character. If honest, I was drawn to the performance because of the other reviewer's comments - flawed performance, live recording, illness, etc. However, regarding the former point (flawed playing), so far I have not found this to be the case; and the latter points (live recording & illness) make Kagan's playing of these really wonderful pieces even more special. Highly recommended.
