4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and cheerful, 9 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Three stars because the USB connection to cigarette lighter for power is useless. I could not get a firm connection at all. The cable is also far too short.
However, 2 batteries installed and it is a gem. Perfectly clear reception. Battery life seems fine. Easy to use. Memory functions work fine.
Headphone cable to connect to MP3 player is very short, as can be seen in the picture, but this is not a problem for me.
For the price, this is a fine deal compared to alternatives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple gaming joy, 26 Nov 2002
This review is from: Super Monkey Ball (Video Game)
Super monkey ball serves as the perfect answer to all those that say that "interactive movies" are the way forward for gaming. And, of course, that answer is ... don't be silly!
Video games are ALL about fun. Super Monkey Ball provides that in spades. It's a simple premise, delivered excellently.
Infectious, happy music. Cute, colourful graphics that complement the game superbly. A control system that actually allows you to feel in control - You never feel cheated by this game.
The main game "simply" involves navigating your monkey from start to finish, within a time limit, on increasingly more complex levels. Collect bananas along the way to gain extra lives. Sounds simple? Don't be fooled. The learning curve and level design is beautiful; providing, in turns, moments of forehead-slapping and moments of pure inspiration.
VAriety is provided by 6 sub-games: Monkey Target, Monkey Fight, Monkey RAce, Monkey Billiards, Monkey Bowling and Monkey golf. Each game is exactly as it says on the tin. The first of the 3 are lovely multplayer games. The last three are have to be unlocked, atlhough to be honest, they haven't yet arrested my attention.
Overall, Monkey Ball is a tribute to the simple pleasure of proving your own skill. One of the most enjoyable games I've played in a long time. It's also a game that no Gamecube owner should be without.
Heartily Recommended to all gamers.

1.0 out of 5 stars So bad I had to write this review ..., 26 Nov 2002
This review is from: Evolution [DVD] [2001] (DVD)
Put simply, Evolution has to rank as one of the worst films I've ever seen.
As a basic idea it has potential, but it's just dismally delivered.
The actors all deliver stilted, unconvinced performances - it's as if they can't believe that they are taking part in such a pathetic production.
The gags are, crucuially, totally overused and so obvious that they might as well be prefixed with a neon warning sign. Hmm - let's see, clumsy scientist approaches a set of stairs for the 15th time - I wonder what will happen here... How one reviewer can label this as a clever film I do not know.
I've watched my fair share of no-brainer comedies and gross-outs and this just ranks so far below all of them that you can barely see it.
Suggesting that it borrows heavily from Ghostbusters does that classic a great disservice. The funniest line in Evolution doesn't even come close to the worst line in Ghostbusters.
Ok, so it made me smile a couple of times, but it made me cringe (both for the actors and for the fact that I'd wasted good money on the rental) much more.
There are considerably better comedies to spend your time and money on - I suggest you get trawling Amazon to find them.
In the primordial soup of comedy this is an amoeba, go find yourself something that has evolved a sense of timing, wit and comedy.
