4.0 out of 5 stars RE: Theatrical or Uncut edition!, 13 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
PHOTOSENSITIVE EPILEPSY WARNING: this film contains SEVERE strobing effects and should be viewed with extreme caution (or probably not at all) by those who have Photosensitive Epilepsy!!!

Great news for UK fans, this IS the hardcore, uncut edition and not the censored theatrical edition, which has been released in the USA (2D Version tested only).

Fantastic steelbook, with great artwork (both inner and outer) and a premium metallic paint finish! The age rating logos are NOT on the steelbook.

Both discs (2D blu-ray & 3D blu-ray) are region B locked!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Price, Excellent Quality!, 31 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very high quality External DVD Writer Drive, that requires almost no installation
and is pretty much "Plug in and Play".

I couldn't burn CD's/DVD's with WMP, when I first plugged it in, so I installed the free
burning software that comes on the disc, and everything has burnt PERFECTLY since!

I cannot recommend this device enough, especially at the price; Panasonic i.e. very high
quality components, with a sleek, minimal and attractive German (Leicke) Veneer!

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT IN ENGLISH!, 4 Jan 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Not a review of the product itself, but of amazon's descriptive incompetence!

Although the item is described as being in the English language (Under Product Details), having received it, I can clarify it is not and presumably, is in Gaelic as it is an Irish translation (as opposed to being translated by someone who is Irish into English).

I hope this helps others avoid this fault!

May His Holiness John Paul II rest in peace eternal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Melancholie2: An Individual's Masterpiece!, 11 Nov 2010

This review is from: Melancholie (Audio CD)
The Black Metal scene is a large one, and although it is still very much underground music, that doesn't stop it from being a total head scratcher when it comes to all the sub genres that fit within it's ranks.
Therefore, finding a style or sound that really resonates with your senses is very much trial and error, a case of sifting through the dirt to reach the gold which this album most definitely is.

As there are many sub-genres, there are also individuals who cannot be placed into specific category's and these are the musicians who only have their souls to bare and are not self limiting, and generally those trying to avoid genre filing.
One such musician is G.B. aka Georg Börner aka Coldworld, who has caused quite a stir after only one EP release, 2006's Thestarsaredeadnow and one official album release, 2008's Melancholie².

Melancholie2 as the title would suggest, is an album that fuses Ambient Black Metal and Depressive Black Metal but also Neo Classical and even dubstep (final track "Escape") to outstanding effect, and has a sound that stays with you long after it's 50 minute run time has expired.

Weather it's his perfect violin compositions, his brutal and yet fragile guitar rifts, or his savage yet somehow perfectly soothing vocal style, this album hits all it's cues to perfection and that can simply be put down to the artists masterful talents and nothing more.

From "Dream of a Dead Sun" a song that grabs you by the soul with it's unbelievably soothing ambient intro and doesn't let go until the guitar rifts break you in just as you're getting too comfortable; or "Tortured by Solitude"'s mesmerizing combination of guitar and violin, that burden you for 6 minutes with an unremovable smile; and yet this album is aimed almost totally at the depressive side of emotion, but somehow manages to put you in a temporary state of bliss as opposed to feeling like you want to put a gun to your head and turn out the lights, which is what a lot of DBM artists aim for.

There are more traditional Ambient/Depressive Black Metal pieces to appreciate here also, four in total; "SchmerzensSchreie", "Red Snow", "Hymn to Eternal Frost" and "My Dead Bride" which are all superb in their execution and don't come anywhere near the "been done, heard that before" scenario that many so-called BM artists can't escape from.

Coldworld clearly understands that such music can be a difficult listening experience and has structured the album with appeasing breaks that intersect the harsher natured songs, allowing the listeners mind to clear and ponder before again being assaulted by it's glass shattering guitar pieces and wrath like vocals.

By the end of this album, those who have fallen under it's spell (and that won't be everyone), will be able to concede that what they have heard is truly a "one of a kind" album made by a "One of a Kind" musician of significant talents. Some have criticised the album for being too perfect sounding and too polished but Coldworld is purely an album project and therefore does not require such improvisation or spontaneity in it's sound to be relevant on a stage which it won't ever grace.

Melancholie2, like most ambient music, requires listening in a totally isolated environment, and I would strongly recommend a decent set of headphones and an hour of non interruption (along walk rurally perhaps) to fully absorb the experience as a whole.

If the chance is there to own this superb piece of music, I would highly recommend you take the opportunity!
