5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, 8 Mar. 2013
For me the inspiration of this book comes from the message of Swamiji - Advaita is not a new message but Swamiji gives it new and accessible meaning. Now I am going to read this book all over again and again and probably again....

5.0 out of 5 stars Hand book for anyone with a woman's body..., 28 May 2012

This is a great reference book for women of all ages as it takes the reader through all the major milestones in a woman's life. So the earlier in life you get the book the better shape you will be in when you hit menopause! As a health practitioner I recommend it to all my female patients because it is full of practical guidance on how to deal with the every day health issues we come up against. At the heart of the book is a profound understanding of the effects of stress in modern day life - if the reader is able to fully understand that point alone it is enough to transform your life. I recommend it heartily to all my sisters.

This review is from: A Pukka Life (Hardcover)
If you want to live an Ayurvedic lifestyle and only want to buy one book, preferably without the mysterious sanskrit terms, then this is the one for you. I love how Sebastian manages to get a lifetime of considerable knowledge and experience into a book that is totally accessible to everyone without dumbing down. As an Ayurvedic practitioner I ask all my new patients to read the first 100 pages before they come to see and they turn up pretty well briefed! The book itself is a thing of beauty with sumptuous photography, high quality pages and sublime layout - all of which would be totally lost on a kindle version. In short I feel this is the best book on Ayurveda currently in print.

An excellent piece of work from Deepak Chopra. He has the common touch and knows how to identify and write about the foibles of being human that we all think are specific to us but he knows are common to all. This is a very straight forward and practical book that not only identifies seven areas that hamper happiness but also gives three practical ways of how to deal with each. I am a health practitioner and encourage patients to read this book having benefitted from it so much myself. Keep it handy as it is the sort of book you refer to again and again.

This is an excellent book for anyone wishing to set up a traditional Ayurvedic kitchen. At the beginning of the book there is a shopping list of everything you need to get started which is inexpensive and saves so much time. The recipes are delicious, quick to prepare and each clearly indicates the effect they have on the doshas. At the back of the book, there is lots of useful information including lists of foods by dosha and their therapeutic effects which really helps the reader to learn Ayurveda quickly and simply. There are even meal plans for each dosha at various times of the year - what a brilliant teacher Dr Lad is.
