This title I was hoping would shed light of the Hitler Youth movement but instead the documentary contained little in fact it swayed off into other movemnets during that time in history, and it's a french tv documentary to boot dubbed in english of course! Find another film to satisfied your curosity.

5.0 out of 5 stars All it Takes ...., 26 Sept. 2013
This review is from: At Hitler's Side [DVD] (DVD)
Fasinating DVD very informative.

Some people take all DVD for granted that just becuse they are on Amazon UK and are in english that thhey will play on U.S. DVD machines, well the solution when you have bought something like this is very simple and a must in exposing ones self to a wide variety of home entertainment ... just buy a All Region player my Philips all region player has been very reliable and very easy to operate ... just think about this!

Her recent Walking and Taking mini series and the fact that she is so damn talented is the proof that she is totally lovable and a joy to behold! This series may be short but oh so powerful in being back memories from the late seventies early eighties. Both lead actors are superb and the others make the walking even crave more talking! The "retro" way the series was filmed with the muted watercolor seventies technocolor brings tears of joy to my eyes! I highly suggest you run dont' walk to either buy eleswhere or hit the "buy now" key NOW!

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Boys Typically Portrayed!, 7 Nov. 2010
This review is from: Shank [DVD] [2008] [2009] (DVD)
This "film" is trite and obnoxiously bad! The characters written here were so blatantly stereotypical that it was hard to get through to the end, but when I did I felt totally let down by what could have been a interesting topic to cover., it's a shame that the director didn't suggest to the three lead actors to do more role reversal in rehearsals to find a better way to portray any sense of dignity in being gay. The "softcore" sex scenes seemed to be added for effect and done with a typical flair for erotic screen time. Saved your money for films that gives back a sense of pride like the films "Beautiful Thing" and "My Beautiful Laundrette"

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Observational Comedy!, 24 Oct. 2010

This review is from: Him & Her - Series 1 [DVD] (DVD)
Ever get the idea that watching the mundane existence of your sole-mate would be a beautiful piece of sitcom viewing? How's that for a opening line to this review about a show, that is fresh and lively and a joy to behold in a very intimate settings thanks to the writer Stefan Golaszewski and director Richard Laxton and stars Russell Tovey and Sarah Solemani. This BBC DVD presents all six episodes on one disc and the second disc has so much more to be tainted with by the talents mention above that you won't miss the currency that has escaped from your wallet!

I thought by watching the first episode that the one line puns and sarcasm would wear thin but Mr. Golaszewski turns the tables and creates a show that delivers brilliant observational comedy something that will endure over many viewings! I just hope that a second is commissioned but if not this will won't be the last you've heard from this talented cast and crew ... cheers to them all!

3.0 out of 5 stars Titillating Strool Through Tittenhurst Park, 5 Mar. 2010

Sit back and slightly enjoyed a manic stroll through the Life of John Winston Ono Lennon!

Featuring Interviews: Man Of The Decade :
Aquarius: Lennon and Ono from 1973:
David Frost: Lennon and Ono form 1968 period:
Unfortunatley not intact which is a shame because they are slightly disjhonted on the subject matter and the flow of the program!

The lovely sounds of cheap sound alike "Penny Lane" music but hey the original would have cost a arm and a leg to licensed!!

Some footage license from ITN Source and is 70 Minutes in total

Worth the price, but as I said a little disconnected, edited in a rather clumsy way!

Included comments from regularly seen press conferences from the other Fabs mostly Macca

I think the other DVD I bought along with this one is much better

That Title: The Beatles: Here, There and Everywhere (1963-1970) Color and B/W sourced from ITN 85 Minutes

Yes, the above title is vastly superior, although some clips used in the Lennon disc are not found here, this DVD is chaptered by year and clips are fully intact! The clips form 1967-1968 are the best I've ever seen especial the David Frost show from 1968 with Lennon/Ono in vivid black and white but once again bootleg versions still have the full show!! There is a curious Sgt. Pepper era Macca interview that is really intriguing! The India clips are fully vivid in color even the Harrison clip form Bombay is so crisp and clear although the Lennon DVD does have some other nice crisp clips as well including the Paris Airport interview with the "shorned" Lennons and of the auctioning of their hair and the bloody boxer shorts, all the other bootleg clips I've collected never had been seen in color like these, it still is a shame that full segments weren't at least chapter or given as extras to view. But the Here, There and Everywhere DVD has so much sharp and wonderful chapter clips to view so differently a keeper!

All in all I guess it better to have these to view than nothing at all, Cheers

Prick Up Your Ears Special Edition [DVD]
Prick Up Your Ears Special Edition [DVD]

5.0 out of 5 stars Prick Up Your Eyes!, 20 July 2008

A new and special edition of this 1987 film starring Gary Oldman before his downfall, brings the life of Joe Orton to the screen. In doing some research as to why yet another re-release was needed to be, I found out through searching the internet these extra added features:

DVD special features:
Interview With Stephen Frears.
Recollections Of Leonie Barnett.
1967 Interview Of Joe Orton With Eamonn Andrews.
Subtitles:
English Hard Of Hearing

Just the thought of seeing a filmed interview with the real-life Joe Orton, if that is indeed what is presented here, is well worth the price of admission to this colorful and remarkable piece of gay cinema. Hopefully in the future, there may be a full fledge documentary on Joe Orton as he seems to be still a rather mysterious but playful and original playright of the twentieth century.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Programme, 19 Jan. 2005
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Although there is about 2% rare footage here, most is silent routine archived footage with loose commentary on the life of John Lennon. Mostly obnoxious about this feature is that running non-stop over the programme is loud, Tony Sheridan music made for this feature that misses the feel of what the visuals and sparse interviews are telling us, hell it would have been nice to hear what Victor Spinetti had to say! Beware, rent it if you must, I'm in the States so for the low price I took a chance, not expecting much and got less than that!
