Thaler and Sunstein do a great job creating a fair picture of current nudging techniques and the underlying theory as well as point to a few areas where nudging might be applied with success. Evidently a US-centric book, but nevertheless worth a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outperformance made easy, 14 Aug. 2010
'Racing towards excellence' is a worthy investment for anyone ready and open to change and improve habits, routine and standard goals. This book provides a to-do list for the outperformer, broken down into manageable steps. There's no holy grail, no magic involved in achieving and outperform; theory as well as practice is well-documented (although the Tiger Woods example probably should be deleted by now) and presented in a rational, straight-forward way.

I'm going to use 'Racing towards excellence' as a starting point for improving my study habits. The guides describing how to work with various skills are not very detailed, but more of an outline of what can be done - then the reader can seek further information and elaboration from other sources. After all, this book is inspirational, thus it doesn't drown the reader in theory and long explanations. Much is open to interpretation and customization - which is probably its biggest advantage.
