1.0 out of 5 stars It's truely a mess of a boook., 24 Feb. 2016
I just can't believe the reviews of this book. I'm stunned. It's terrible. The characters are useless especially the women who he seems to have nothing but contempt for the sex. The plot is so derivative I know how it was going to end half way through. The constant repetitions in the prose. The same recycled descriptions, the clichéd out of date images that don't exist anymore in the UK. The 1970s modes of speech nobody uses anymore. Then we have the constant stupid plot holes. It's a mess of a book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Painful Admission, 16 Dec. 2014
As a serious Richard Morgan fan I found this book fairly dismal. It is one fantasy cliche after another. Horrible Deus Ex after Horrible Deus Ex. Yeah the writing is still great but I found endless repeating phrases started to jar and the voices of the gods all sounded the same after a while. It felt phoned in by a writer that had lost interest in the material and just wanted to get it done.

3.0 out of 5 stars More soap opera than space opera, 29 Sept. 2014

Nicely written and if you wanted to read a book that is more dialogue and less battle action than an episode of extreme fishing then it's up your street.

2.0 out of 5 stars Review for more serious users., 7 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I read the reviews and took a chance on these. I thought I should write a review because while they aren't absolutely terrible there are some very substantial problems.

Build:
The construction is fair with a few notable exceptions. Comfort is awful. The faux velour coverings on the headset are dire. They cause overheating and itch like mad. The length of cord is short and it'll be a tight fit unless your base unit is right next to your seat.

Mic:
The mic isn't bad at all. Well constructed with decent quality sound.

Speakers:
These are frankly diabolical. The hiss and distortion levels are as bad as the £5 bargin bucket pairs you find. You can forget any hope of bass and get crackles and pops constantly. (In case you think I am using a duff soundcard, this was through an ASUS Xonar Essence STX which are normally connected to M-Audio Monitor speakers).

I contacted Plantronics support who responded within one day. However, were unable to assist me with the issues I had with the headset.

Unless, you are on an extremely tight budget. I would avoid these at all costs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great wee tablet, 20 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For the money I am blown away by this. Very fast, decent screen, expandable memory up to 32GB. HDMI out. The full bhuna and only £100. And because it's a UK company full uk warranty with minimum fuss. Dunno why there isn't more fuss made about this.

TBS DVB-S2 High Definition Digital Satellite Tuner PCI Express Card HD (DVB-S2/DVB-S) Receiver - PCIE

4.0 out of 5 stars HD Satellite Card, 24 Oct. 2011
This HD Satelitte card is a good buy at the price. While the software that comes with the card isn't up to much and the card doesn't work with media centre vista there is a nice free media centre called media portal which works great with it. Once you set it up it all runs along nicely. The supplier delivered the card quickly and decently packaged.

3.0 out of 5 stars was promising but woefully under developed., 10 Feb. 2009
The book is short like other people have commented but much worse than than this its under developed. The books reads like the first half of a book that didn't get finished. The climax feels like a middle section of a bigger story. I'm left puzzling how this got past an editor. The book should have been twice as long and far wider in scope. However, after reading the line war and Neal's handling of the war (honestly, putting in REALLY big numbers of ships doesn't make the battles more exciting) perhaps this was for the best.
