The Hardest Day: Battle of Britain, 18 August 1940 (Cassell Military Paperbacks)
by Alfred Price
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard Day Indeed., 24 April 2011
I was totally taken aback by this book, slow to begin right enough, but when you get into the Hardest Day it has to go down as one of the great books i have ever had the priviledge to read, the minute by minute actions of the Hardest Day is something to behold, the dogfights and the accounts of the dogfights from both sides are equally gripping, The ferocity of the fighting at 20,000 feet is absorbing and the Author hits the nail on the head about lengths that pilots from both sides would go to kill their enemy. But i would recommend this book 100%, It is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A disgraceful cover up by the allies., 31 July 2008
The book by Ken Small describes the total lack of cooperation from the American and British government in his attempt to gain the help to create a lasting memorial to the sailors and soldiers who died that awful night.and how at a cost to himself he did it all by himself, the book is a fantastic read. and is for ken small a suitable memorial to himself for the fight he put up to remember the servicemen who died that awful night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Urquharts Army, 13 Aug. 2007
I thoroughly enjoyed general Urquharts view on the Market Garden operation,Where Corneilus Ryan takes in the full operation this book i believe this book gives us a full insight into what is no doubt a full scale military disaster in which the full and total blame lies at the feet at two people in particular. who's names are Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery and that Urquharts other superior General Browning if you want an overall view read a bridge to far if you want a British view then read this book. It is top read
