1.0 out of 5 stars Too flimsy, 24 Nov. 2011
This tuner works well, and better than others I have used on the low E string, while it lasts. However, I found the very small buttons awkward to use and it fell to bits within a fortnight.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unfit for sale, 27 Oct. 2010
Even after two firmware upgrades (v4.22 August 2010 and v5.15 November 2010), this box is still riddled with bugs. Since upgrading to v5.15 the box has crashed three times in 17 days and required power cycling each time. Typically this occurs if it tries to do two things at once - for example if you're browsing the EPG just as it starts to record a programme. The sound volume bug still hasn't been fixed. Releasing such a shoddy product onto the market is borderline criminal, IMHO. Avoid like the plague.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's a rip, 3 April 2010
This "product" is just a rip-off of a Wikipedia article. Shame on Amazon for listing it at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars The plot that flopped, 6 Sept. 2009
This film could have been so much better. Pirate radio, the eccentric characters who took part in it and the many madcap episodes in its real-life history should have been an absolute gift to a screenwriter. Instead, we get a ponderous pudding of a film in which not much happens and much of what does is so yawningly implausible that it's neither funny nor dramatic. I was looking forward to this film and it was a huge letdown.

1.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the worst film ever made, 28 Dec. 2007
This review is from: 300 [HD DVD] (HD DVD)
A bunch of guys gouge and hack lumps off each other. The end. No plot, no characterisation and hardly any dialogue. It's one non-stop, uninspired and repetitive battle scene. The photography is reduced to a palette of reds and yellows reminiscent of a museum of Byzantine art but with less to interest the eye. Your mission, should you accept it, is to stay awake.

4.0 out of 5 stars HD rejuvinates an old TV classic, 18 Dec. 2007
Black-and-white? Academy ratio? Mono sound? World War II film stock? On HD DVD? Are they kidding?

Well, no. Amazingly, it works. The pictures are as sharp and clean as if they were shot yesterday. The lovely thing about 35mm film is that it was always HD-ready. Even 65 years ago.

With this release, it's possible to see what the director and cameraman were trying to do for the first time since the wartime fleapits. There's a real art to the composition and the way depth-of-field and focus are used to control the viewer's eye. That subtlety is lost in SD because nothing is quite in sharp focus. The difference brings the film back to life in a way that had me disappearing deep inside the story like never before.

5.0 out of 5 stars First rate, 28 Nov. 2007
This review is from: Apollo 13 [HD DVD] (HD DVD)
I've always liked this film, which vividly reconstructs an incredible, nail-biting event in modern history, and so was keen to see it on HD DVD. This HD transfer is a very good one, producing pin-sharp pictures and excellent colour grading, putting it on a par quality-wise with the HD DVD releases of "Total Recall" and "2001: A Space Odyssey".

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth bothering with, 27 Nov. 2007
This HD DVD is the weakest in terms of image quality I've seen yet. Most of them are excellent, but on this one the picture doesn't look any sharper than standard definition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flawless., 10 Nov. 2007
This player is excellent. Connected by HDMI at 1080p24 to a Full-HD plasma screen, the picture quality is limited essentially by what came out of the camera. I can't fault it, and as a trained broadcast engineer I'm exceedingly fussy. The scaler does a good job of standard-definition DVDs too (Region 2 only).

The internet connection was easy to set up - turn on DHCP and DNS, plug it into the router, and that's it. I only did this out of curiosity - I don't expect ever to use it, although I did use it to flash the firmware to the latest version. This went without a hitch but took about 45 minutes.

There is just a little fan noise, but it's only perceptible in a very quiet room and is completely masked once the audio starts.

There were two discs in the box - 300 and The Bourne Supremacy. Five additional free discs can be obtained by downloading and filling in a form.
