1.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected - Not In a good way..., 4 Nov 2010
This review is from: Metallic Spheres (Audio CD)
I think there is FAR better collaboration Music Out there from rock/indie artists, melding their guitar work with electronic artists...

This album has ist good moments, but they barely last a few moments, and then the sound shifts back into average/cheezy, forniocatory music (for the lack of better words)...
For a much Higher class of "Intelligent Ambient Music", I think I will stick to my Personal Favorites:
"Solar Fields",
"Aes Dana",
"Steve Roach",
"Jeffrey Koepper",
"Byron Metcalf"... ETC

The Amazing sound of the once BRILLIANT "The Orb" however, Has officially left the building since 2001...

Good Luck to The Orb In ALL their future endeavours, but I don't ever see them coming back...!

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete & Utter Disregard to the Living & the Dead..., 29 July 2010
It is an INSULT to own this DVD in my view. These guys are a bunch of Amateurs & Immatures... The apparent lead investigator (ZAK) in particular... Zak is Completely & Utterly disrespectful to the dead, and in turn, turning his disrespect towards the living... Allow me to explain. For those of you familiar to The "TAPS" team (The Atlantic Paranormal Society), And their show "Ghost Hunters", you'll know Exactly what I mean...

These guys investigate places that are widely known to be haunted. My indifference is with (and in particular to) the places that are still used as work places, or homes. Zak, has a VERY forthright attitude towards investigating, "Provoking" the spirits as he goes along. Now, "Provocation" is a widely used investigative technique, to try & Get spiritis to manifest or communicate. In saying this, Particular care has to be taken in sensitive places such as Work places & Homes, Simply because you don't want to anger the spirit/s & Leave the aftermath/ Negative reaction of the spirits behind. The People that return to the work places, or homes after the investigation, are left to deal with it all... I think that Zak, Needs to fully understand the concept, & the consequences of their actions... He is warned about the dangers in one of the episodes as well, by one of the priests, & He doesn't seem to flinch an eyelid, when he is asked to change his methods...

In A few Episodes, He Seems to wet himself, & SULK, When the spirits Victimise him... "I Can't Be Here", "I Have to get out of this room" Etc... Oh, you Poor Dear... Sorry Buddy, thats what you get When you act like a complete Alpha Male, When calling the spirits out! What does he want, To prove that spirits (Ghosts, et all) are real, Or For Someone to hold his head on their sholder & Say "Poor You", "Poor Zak"???? I DON'T think Spirits Operate, the way he wants them to...! Zak seems to think that Taunting Spirits, And ghosts, is just going to put on a stage show for him... I was especially disturbed watching episodes, where they dealt with apparent evil/demonic entities... Again, & I Have to keep alluding to this fact, Does he realise that some of these places are places of work & people have to COME BACK there to work, everyday? Zak seems to be very carefree in someone elses workplaces... Good Work... you've provoked the entities, Now the People who live/work at these locations, Are left to deal with this... Very immature, Infantile, & Self-centred...!

I Can't stand the typical "Schoolgirl" screams Of Zak, Nor the notion of him Screaming in fright, everytime someting that can be explained in "Normal" Light, happens... A lot of the evidence here Is atypical of the truth and can be "Debunked" scientifically... I think its more "Hear-Say" then evidence... Lots of Overlapping with THEIR own sounds, when they claim that what they are recording (or have recorded) EVPs... Very Unprofessional...

I Won't be wasting a penny more buying their stuff... Its more then a waste of money...

My Advice: Just watch "Ghost Hunters" instead... MUCH more indepth, Much more Interesting, Intelligent & Pleasing to watch... They Make their cases, & TRULY scrutinize the evidence, & Discard a LOT of stuff, that gets away as evidence with the "Ghost Adventures" team... By the way, I think that this show is a direct plaigiarism of Ghost hunters...

Again, Just my views...

I first heard of Der Dritte Raum, on the "Global underground - San Francisco", mix compilation by Sasha. ever since then, I have been intrigued by this form of tech / trance / house...
This is one of the best Der Dritte Raum Cd's I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. The melodies are jagged and for some of the tracks they can be monotonous, but I like them none the less! All the other albums that they have done, are a little mediocre/minimal in their stance. They're all made up of just beat systems, hardly any melody what-so-ever! Mental Modulator on the other had, does exacly that! It modulates the mind...

It has to be said however, THIS CD IS NOT FOR EVERYONE... Some people may think it's a little monotonous!

The Best Track On the CD: "Mechanoid".

2.0 out of 5 stars A Bit More Then Mundane And Ordinary, 10 Mar 2009
This review is from: Sacred Symbols Of Mu (Audio CD)
I Realize that This Genre, For A HELL of a lot of fans Out there, Holds a Gargantuan Weight, When it comes to Noise, Glicks, & Other Squarepusher-ish Effects... I am More then Dissoriented, by not only this STYLE of music that Sounds much Like Any other Mundane Productions Of Aphex Twin, Bit Also the Length Of the Discs...!!!

Its Interesting How you'd assume that Two Discs Means That each disc would at least SCRATCH the 70 Minute Mark - And I Know Assumptions Can Be dangerous... Not this CD... Each Disc Barely Makes it Past 53-65 Minutes...

All I give this Cd Credit for is The Cover Design... That's It! I Think Two Stars Should Suffice!

I Prefer Listening to The Stuff By "Bola", And "Autechre" Much More so Then I Like this! It Seems to me That the works on this Set Of Discs, is A Bunch of talentless tracks, that have Mediocre beats, And the occasional melody on One Or two of the tracks...! About 3 tracks make it past the 6 minute mark!

Again, These are just my views... I prefer listening to something with a little bit of oomph to it! Even "Nah Und Fern" (For the Minimal Techno Lovers)Was a MUCH BETTER buy then this!!!

No, I Wont Be wasting any more time or money, Researching or buying stuff From this Record label (Planet Mu) Again!

And Again, Someone Has tagged this product as "Trance"... Please understand your genres before tagging, thanks! There Is No trance Here! Do NOT be fooled!

1.0 out of 5 stars Completely Unimpressed!!!, 11 Dec 2008
Ok, We all know the Wide Variety of genres that Tangerine Dream Play With, with regards to their music, But I have to say, This is not An Album that, By any standard sounds AT ALL... Tangerine Dream, Like, For the lack of better words...! This Review speaks for itself (As it is Just as Half-Bothered) As the Tracks On this CD!

For prospective Buyers: Please Enjoy the CD/S, If you make it past 2 Minutes of the First CD,
For Tangerine Dream Fans: You May argue, But all I can Say Is Your Money Is Better Spent On Other TD albums!

1.0 out of 5 stars "Best Album In Years...?!" Really? How? Explain!, 14 Sep 2008
This review is from: Teo And Tea (Audio CD)
How can you rate 5 stars to this? I was looking for a lesser option then 1! In fact I'm Finding it difficult, even giving this Cd, that One Star!

If people think this is his best work in years, They need an Education in Pure "Jarre"!!! I mean the old classics, like Oxygene, Equinoxe, Rendez-Vous, Waiting For Cousteau, Chronologie... Need I Go On! How is this BETTER then his master piece "Oxygene", Anyone Care to explain? No! I didn't think so! I think that I would be better off Listenin to the sound of a stabbed cat, being run over by a fleet of Wide-load Trucks!

In All Honesty, For what Jarre was worth When Oxygene made it huge, This is more then a wasted effort! He was labled as being ahead of his time according to the sleevenotes on Equinoixe! If anything, He is Now Only but a fibre of Mediocre, At Best, On Teo & Tea! Forget behind his time, He has taken three steps back with this album!

Oh & One Final Note, Who Is it that has tagged this product "New Age"??
Once Again, I REALLY Don't get it!

4.0 out of 5 stars I don't Get It...?!, 14 Sep 2008
This review is from: Farewell Ferengistan (Audio CD)
Ok, First off all, I am Not trying to discredit the band, nor am I questioning the other reviewers' morals... All I would like to say, is that for all who believe that "Banco De Gaia", are creating a whole new genre, Think Again! In As much as they are EXTREMELY talented, I think Its all been done before! All you have to do is listen to any old "Loop Guru", "Deep Forest", Or For that matter "Global Communication" CD's!

I Preffer to believe, that fusion sounds are good, if they work... Banco De Gaia, have trully shown their worth with regards to this, but in all sense of finding something new, I Will stick to what I know best! I only purchased this cd, because Amazon UK Recommended this cd, simply because I bought something else that was no where near whats in "Farewell Ferengistan"... Never Mind... I wont be rushing home from work to play this Cd in a rush!

I think It is Overall a brilliant piece of music, But Nothing drastically new here!

1.0 out of 5 stars Unimpressed, 16 July 2008
This review is from: Farscape (Audio CD)
Klaus schulze, Isn't something you JUST get into, I Know that as well as I know the Light of the sun, But I have to say, I was not as impressed with this cd, as I have been with his past releases! If you're a Die Hard Fan, then Yes, I'm sure you will disagree with my views, but that is foremost what they are... My Views...! For now, I will stick to the Minimalistic mellody streams of Steve Roach! However, I don't stand to debunk the musical talents of Mr. Schulze, I Just see, & Know, that he can do better, then this piece!

2.0 out of 5 stars I don't get it...?!?!?!, 23 April 2008
This review is from: Are You Sequenced? (Audio CD)
OK. Granted that Klaus Schulze has some FANTASTIC re-release records, one of my favorites of his recent works is "Kontinuum". But to say that ALL his work is brilliant, would be a lie, and slso something likely to come out of a die hard fans mouth... This record isn't something I would pick if I was just getting into his work... I have been following his work for a while now, & Even I know that when dealing with artists from the electronic genre, not each and every record is a great piece of work... Look at "Tangerine Dream", Or "Jean Michel Jarre", for that matter!

Such Is The case with Klaus Schulze's "Are you sequenced"... As much as people say that it keeps building into something fantastic... I keep waiting for this record to do something for me... I suppose I will be waiting for a while... Even though the first disc is split into 11 tracks, dont expect a change on any tracks, appart from the track evolving rather monotonous, dreary, 4X4 beats from track two, nothing much changes... The opening track may have a lot of value... Such is the case with CD2... Starts well, & gets this overworked feeling, with the slightly higher pace than the first CD... Oh, And then theres that Frustrating beat again...

Want my advice? Get "Kontinuum", "Crime Of Suspence" Or something else from his VERY prestigious selection of works, Or Try Tangerine Dream's "Live Miles" concert...
