5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Written, 1 Sep 2011
This review is from: Meeting Lydia (Paperback)
I should come clean straight away and declare i am a man!I bought this book for my wife but was unable to put it down. The novel explores so many different human relationships in a beautiful and touching way and it has a special feel to it throughout. Mother and teenage daughter . Teenage romance. Menopausal wife and mid life crisis husband.I would recommend this as a read for anyone feeling too complacent in their relationship!

There are many books around that tackle difficulties in relationships or domestic drama's that end up reading like unrealistic and badly written soap plots . This was well written and very engaging.

There is mystery and romance aplenty and i would not spoil the read by revealing the identity of Lydia on these pages.I was impressed with the authors strong writing and particularly her research which helped to create magnificent images in the mind.

Overall a great debut novel which left me wanting more....and now i know who Lydia is!

1.0 out of 5 stars UNFUNNY-AM I MISSING SOMETHING??, 2 Oct 2006
I have to ask this question because there are clearly plenty of people who find this movie hilarious.NOT ME!Be very careful when purchasing unless you like Dukes of Hazzard type humour mixed in with a plot that makes Austin Powers look like intelligent viewing.

There are one or two laughs but this was a huge disappointment.

This review is from: Just Like Heaven [DVD] (DVD)
This is a really touching film that leaves a warm feeling after watching it.The soundtrack is also superb for lovers of all things indie/pop!When you don't want a film that makes your brain work TOO hard and you need cheering up then this is just the tonic for a cosy night by the fire!

5.0 out of 5 stars A real Gem, 28 Aug 2006
I would urge anyone who has not heard of this film to buy it immediately-It really is a little gem.

I am not a lover of "Mob" movies but this is the exception. The dialogue is very clear and the plot easy to follow.Tom Hanks puts in a moving performance and Paul Newman is brilliant as the Mob Leader especiallly when slamming the table in a rage at his embarrassing son.

Turn down the lights.Grab the popcorn and enjoy a movie that will move you to tears, excite you and leave you wanting more.

A bargain at Amazon's current special price i should say!
