5.0 out of 5 stars Amber - Voodoo "The Reviews", 30 Jun 2005
This review is from: Voodoo Remixes (Audio CD)
Here what popular magazines and websites are saying about Amber - Voodoo:
""Voodoo" practically gets up on its soapbox and screams danceability. Strong vocals and a nice range of remixes make this single a sure seller."
SOURCE: Global Dance
"Amber's vocals begin as hauntingly echoed moans before kicking into powerful high gear; singing straight from the gut, she practically growls like a sexy baby tiger, "I'm the kiss on your forehead, I'm the touch on your heart...""
SOURCE: HX Magazine
"[Dance/Pop Songs like "This is Your Night", "Sexual (Li Da Di)", and "If You Could Read My Mind"]have made [AMBER] one of few modern dance-oriented artists to score a continuous stream of No. 1 hits over two decades in the United States-with plenty of substance behind the insistent thump ... on the hard-driving "Voodoo," she proves to be provocative without losing sight of the mandate that it is still the melody that first catches folks' attention."
SOURCE: BillBoard Magazine
"...it's at least nice to know that one thing has stayed the same: her commitment to stellar remixes so as to keep happy her club-going fan base that has loved her from the very beginning and elevated her to the legend status she now enjoys."

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Hits, 1 Jan 2005
This review is from: The Best Of (Audio CD)
Leann Rimes career hasn't exactly followed a conventional path. She first burst onto the music scene with "Blue" a song written for the late Patsy Cline. She immediately moved out of traditional Country to Country Pop and released a string of Hits. Her "Pop Country" career peaked with the release of her version of the Diane Warren penned "How Do I Live". That song simply refused to go away and set too many industry records to mention. She sustained this career peak by recording 4 more Warren tunes for the "Coyote Ugly" Soundtrack: "Can't Fight the Moonlight", "Please Remember", "But I Do Love You" and "The Right Kind of Wrong". Her gorgeous "I Need You" from a TV Miniseries Soundtrack is a highlight of this CD. Fans of great Female Vocalists should also check out Amber - My Kind of World. Though stylistically different than Leann (Amber is Pop/Rock), she shares Leann's vocal talent. "My Kind of World" contains the #1 Hit "You Move Me", the followup Single "Voodoo", as well as the Whitney Houston Meets Anastacia Power Ballad "Sacrificial Lamb" and the Pat Benatar-esque "Just Like That". This CD will appeal to fans of Leann's Pop and Dance Hits! My advice? Get Leann Rimes "Greatest Hits" and Amber - "My Kind of World".

5.0 out of 5 stars ReMixed and "UnDanced", 27 Dec 2004
This review is from: The Hits Remixed (Audio CD)
If you are a fan of remixed Club Music, then this is the CD for you. REMIXED is a Collection of Amber's Greatest Hits remixed by some of the Top DJs in the biz. It contains many remixes not previously available Commercially. Even if you own all of the Maxi Singles, you won't have many of the Remixes contained here. Ironically, the best track here is the gorgeous chillout (and decidedly non-Club) Hex Hector Piano Epic Mix of "If You Could Read My Mind". A companion CD that every fan will want to own is "Undanced" - a Collector's Edition Rare and Unreleased Remixes of Hits and Bonus Tracks (Avail exclusively at [...] These tracks have NEVER been available before, not even as Promos. Also Recommended: AMBER - "My Kind of World" and AMBER - "You Move Me" Maxi Single.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 CDs With Something to Say, 11 Dec 2004
This review is from: Folklore (Audio CD)
Born in British Columbia to Portugese Canadian Immigrants, Nelly Furtado joins a long line of Superstars (Celine Dion, Alanis Morissette, Deborah Cox, Tamia, Shania Twain, Amanda Marshall, Avril Lavigne to name a few) as Canada'a latest "it" Girl . I vividly remember Nelly's "Tonight Show" debut when she sang "I'm Like a Bird" live and wowed fellow guest Rosie Perez. That song took on new meaning years later when a 16 Year old Canadian Idol contestant in a wheelchair sang "I'm Like a Bird" in competition and the heartbreaking irony made the judges sob. Nelly returned to the "Tonight Show" on the release of her "Folklore" CD and debuted "Powerless (Say What You Want)" for her American fans. This time the fellow guest being "wowed" was none other than Madonna. And rightfully so. Pop Radio is filled with "Say Nothing" songs and along comes Nelly out of nowhere with a nessage: "Cause this life is too short; to live it just for you; when you feel Powerless; what are you gonna do; Say what you want". Literally, the song is about how the Music Industry Marketing Machine tried to hide her ethnicity to make her "more white" so she'd sell more records: "You paint my face in your magazines; try to make it whiter than it seems; paint me all the way to dreams; shove away my ethnicity". The universal message of course is to stand up for your rights - Speak out, "Say what you want". Another Artist saying what she wants is Pop/Rocker AMBER. Unhappy with the direction that her record company was forcing her to take, Amber took her life and her career into her own hands, founded her own label, and released her latest CD "My Kind of World" independently. Though stylistically closer to Seal and Paula Cole than Nelly, Amber's CD is just as acclaimed as Nelly's. The first Single "You Move Me" has already hit #1 at XM Radio. And there are enough followup Singles here to keep the CD in the charts for the next 2 years! Fans of Independent Women Singer/Songwriters who are not afraid to speak the truth and to stand up for their rights should definitely hear Nelly Furtado "Folklore" and AMBER - "My Kind of World"

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 CDs that You Should Definitely Buy!, 11 Dec 2004
This review is from: Lucky (Audio CD)
I recently saw Melissa Etheridge perform live at Toronto's intimate "Massey Hall". Her performance was nothing short of incredible. Whatever your sexual orientation, if you can listen to Melissa perform "Nowhere to Go" (her song about growing up gay in Rural Kansas) Live and Alone on the stage and not be moved, then you just don't have a heart or a soul. And her incredible VOICE. You've never "experienced" Melissa the Artist until you see her LIVE! She is FLAWLESS. Her latest effort "Lucky" is a worthy addition to her CD catalogue. "Breathe", "This Moment", "Lucky" and the Rock Anthem of Self Worth "Giant" are standouts. Another CD that I recommend to Melissa fans is "My Kind of World" by Pop/Rock Artist AMBER ([...] Although stylistically closer to Seal and Paula Cole than Melissa, AMBER (who is straight) shares Melissa's large Gay fan base and is an ICON in the Gay Community. Her new CD has been getting glowing reviews noteably from Billboard. Their reviewer said that "Amber deserves a spot in the Mainstream". The first Single, the Alt Rock infused Electronica "You Move Me" hit #1 Stateside on XM Radio. And then there's the Pat Benatar-esque "Just Like That" and the Whitney Houston Meets Pat Benatar Power Ballad "Sacrificial Lamb", a track that virtually screams "HIT!". My advice to Melissa fans: Get "Lucky" CD and DVD and get AMBER - "My Kind of World"

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST, 10 Dec 2004
The only thing that keeps "The Very Best of Macy Gray" from being PERFECT is the exclusion of her latest (and one of her biggest) hit "Oh Yeah"! I love, love, love that song..."Just throw your head back, say Oh Yeah!". OH YEAH! Other than that unfortunate exclusion, this CD contains all the hits from "I Try" to "Sweet Baby" and beyond. Another CD that I have been recommending all over is AMBER - My Kind of World ([...] Although sttylistically very different from Macy Gray (actually she's closer to Seal and Paula Cole, even Tori Amos), Amber, like Macy, is an Original. Her Alt Rock infused Electronica first Single "You Move Me" hit #1 Stateside on XM Radio. The followup "Voodoo" is currently being remixed for an early 2005 release. And then there's the Pat Benatar-esque "Just Like That" and the Power Ballad "Sacrificial Lamb". This CD is as critically acclaimed as Macy Gray's "On How Life Is" debut CD. Billboard Magazine said in it's glowing review that AMBER deserves a place in the mainstream. If you are a fan of great Singer/Songwriters and appreciate an "Original" voice with something new and fresh to offer, my advice is to buy BOTH Macy Gray - The Very Best of AND AMBER - My Kind of World.

A welcome return from Eighties Icons Duran, Duran. "Reach Up (for the Sunrise)" is a certified smash in Canada and on the Billboard Dance charts. Toronto's CHUM Radio has been heralding the band's triumphant return to North America as their first Toronto Stadium Concert in Decades approaches. (It's also a return of sorts by Lead Man Simon LeBon to the City that he once called home. He resided in Toronto's "High Park" during the height of their Eighties Fame). Another CD that fans of Duran Duran should check out is AMBER - My Kind of World. This CD nicely complements Duran Duran's latest. The first Single, the ALT Rock infused "You Move Me" has already hit #1 Stateside on XM Radio. And the Second Single "Voodoo" is being readied for an early 2005 Commercial release. Fans should also check out the Pat Benatar-esque "Just Like That" and the Whitney Houston Meets Pat Benatar Power Ballad "Sacrificial Lamb". Billboatrd Magazine in it's glowing review said that Amber deserves a spot in the Mainstream. My advice? Get BOTH Duran, Duran and AMBER - My Kind of World.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST!, 10 Dec 2004
"Very Best of Pat Benatar" is one of the Better CD Compilations of the Artist's work. It covers her career fron 1979's "In The Heat of the Night" to the 90's Release "Gravity's Rainbow". AND, it includes some of her lesser know tracks as well. Benatar Fans should also check out the new release by Pop/Rock Recording Artist AMBER - "MY Kind of World". The Artist is poised for a breakthrough. Billboard Magazine said in it's glowing review of the CD that "Amber deserves a spot in the Mainstream". Amber is a thoroughly original Artist with her own distinctive voice and style but Benatar fans will be delighted to hear "Just Like That". Quite by accident this track sounds very much like Benatar herself and is something of an "Unintentional Nod" to the Artist. The Whitney Houston Meets Pat Benatar track "Sacrificial Lamb" is another Standout track. "You Move Me", the ALT Rock infused first Single has already hit #1 at XM Radio! My Advice to fans is to get "The Very Best Of Pat Benatar" and AMBER - "My Kind of World"

5.0 out of 5 stars TOUGH AND HONEST, 9 Dec 2004

If you're a fan of tough, honest, hardworking Female Vocalists, check out the new releases from Avril Lavigne "Under My Skin" and Pop/Rock Artist Amber "My Kind of World". Avril's already on Single #3 from her CD "Nobody's Home" (following the success of "Don't Tell Me" and "My Happy Ending"). Amber's first Single out, the Alt Rock infused "You Move Me" hit #1 at XM Radio. And "Voodoo" is currently being mixed for a Commercial release in early 2005. Fans of Avril should check out the Rock tracks "Just Like That" and "Sacrificial Lamb", likely the 3rd and 4th Singles. Both of these CDs are packed with enough potential hits to keep them in the charts for the next 2 years! My advice: Get both Avril Lavigne "Under My Skin" and Amber "My Kind of World".

Christina Aguilera stands head & shoulders above the current crop of young female Singers (Britney, Hilary, Jessica, et al). Not only is she a better singer than they are, she often writes her own Lyrics - and good ones that actually have something positive to say. She will be around for a long, long time. Her "Stripped" is one of the most underated CDs of the last 5 Years. And this CD of her live show in the U.K. only further demonstrates her talent as a Vocalist and Live Performer. Fans of Christina should check out the new CD by Pop/Rock Recording Artist AMBER - My Kind of World. Like Christina, Amber is an Original. She is a fantastic Singer and Songwriter. Like Stripped, her CD features an ecclectic mix of tracks that cover a lot of musical territory. The first Single, the Alt Rock infused Electronic "You Move Me" hit #1 on XM Radio. The followup "Voodoo" is currently being remixed for an early 2005 Commercial release. And then there's the Whitney Houston Meets Pat Benatar and ALL-Amber Power Ballad "Sacrificial Lamb". This song is a monster hit waiting to happen. There are enough Singles here to keep "My Kind of World in the Charts" for 2 Years. My Advice? Get BOTH Christina Aguilera - Strpped LIVE in the U.K. DVD and AMBER - My Kind of World CD.
