It really does work, well made, easy to use but be carefully with it as it can still damage the rubber boots if not used right

A very interesting perspective on what it was like to work for GM in the late 70s and 80s, a real page turner and very funny at times

4.0 out of 5 stars Read a few codes, 18 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Here are a few cars ive plugged it into

- 1997 Subaru Forester 2.0 GLX - did not work
- 2002 Peugeot 406 HDi - it did not work as expected this car is not obdii compliant
- 2002 Renault Clio 1.2 16v - Connected ok
- 2002 Toyota Previa - Helped me determine the car needed a new 02 sensor
- 2010 Toyota Hilux - Connected ok

So it does exactly what it should the cars it couldnt talk to were not obdii compliant all the others were and it works fine with them,
As for the two cars it didnt work with the peugeot ideally needs PP2000 to get any meaningful codes, and the subaru i think has another way to check the codes based on the check engine light flashing.

After reading the review by professor, i also think its a fake, there is no serial number, the 9v battery when plugged in does nothing, and it wont communicate with the computer, so ive sent it back for a refund. Its ok if you just want to read codes, but i was hoping to be able to review information on the computer and unfortunately this fake version wont do that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handiest socket set i have ever bought, 27 April 2012
This socket set is fantastic, its small enough to fit anywhere in the car, especially up the back of the dash or round the bulkhead. But despite the size its amazing the force it can cope with, I've took off some really rusty bolts with it and neither the ratchet or sockets show any signs of strain. I lost one socket it was sitting outside for a few days in the rain but they dont rust. It really is a quality set of sockets. The only slight downside is the handle/latch to the case can fall off at times, the case is fairly good but teng do make better blow moulded cases with better latch clips that don't fall off. But i have got used to how to open the case and it doesn't fall off anymore. It even fits neatly into the toolbox its really handy if I'm at a breakers yard and need to get parts, because with the screwdriver bits including torx bits there is a lot of things it can take off.

Teng TT917TXMega Drive Driver Set (7 Pieces)
Teng TT917TXMega Drive Driver Set (7 Pieces)

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific tools, 1 Feb 2012
I work a lot on peugeots and renaults and torx screws are used all the time, i normally use a ratchet screwdriver with torx bits but its too thick to use in some smaller holes and it can be handier to use a proper screwdriver instead of changing bits.
The handle is great the texture has good grip it fits in the hand nicely. I find the T10 driver useful for use around mobile phones or computers. The quality of everything is great which is something i find with all stuff teng tools makes.
I would recommend this to anyone who regularly works with torx screws.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value for money, 27 Jan 2012
At this price shops i went to were selling pocket sized things, with this one i can use it easily its very easy to see the disks which is a much better way to view the thing than balls. It doesn't look as big in the pictures but it is a very decent size for working on the car. It seems to be able to clean itself fairly well, but it does help to rinse it out. I have tested all the cars round the place and its good to have the reassurance the antifreeze will stand up to the frost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicely made, 21 Jan 2012
a good gague, easy to hold, and easy to use, simple robust design. Although some designs of pressure gauge hold the reading when the gauge is taken away from the tyre whereas this just goes back to 0.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as i had hoped, 30 Nov 2011
I read a review for this tool in an automotive related publication, it was quite good, well priced and i didn't know much about rotary tools so i bought it. The bits are quite terrible, the sandpaper ones just disintegrate, the disks like to snap, and the other stuff i have not used yet. I didn't mind that the bits were not fantastic, they are consumables anyhow and i can always get replacements from other makers. But its the tool itself, it actually feels quite good, fits the hand well, easy to reach switch and great variable speed control dial, but the chuck broke the night i got the tool, it seems to have bent or buckled, which caused it to loose grip of the bit and send it flying across the room, now i can't really use it which is a shame since i only got a few hours use out of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very solid build quality, 22 Oct 2011
This Drill is a Fantastic Tool.
My old worx lasted me 4 years but it never had great power and the batteries didn't last very long.
I heard Milwaukee is a good drill, and tried one of these that a friend had, if you pick it up it feels very solid, there is no rattling, all the controls are very tight and changing settings make a satisfying click. Its lighter than the old drill with conventional batteries, these new lithium ones are great, very light and with 3.0Ah the charge lasts great, and i find the lights on the battery handy for checking the charge level.
The drill has an awful lot of power in it, i used it the other day to panel a shed and it put the screws in no problem, theres tonnes of torque on tap, if you don't watch it will send a screw through the wood, the lower speed is nice and smooth, the trigger offers great control of the speed, and there is a handy led light to shine the area being worked on. I have used it for drilling holes, no problem either the chuck holds the bits really tight, second gear has plenty of speed so it can drill without problem. I haven't used the hammer function but from the feeling of the metal gearbox it shouldn't be a problem.
There is a belt clip on the side, ive tried it but i don't think its really necessary, the 3 bit holder on the other side is handy but another gimmick, in the box there is a handle that clips onto the drill very tight which makes it easier to hold on if putting screws in because it can be a bit sore on the wrists if your not ready.
The box itself holds everything very easy, some drill boxes can be a nightmare to put everything into, but this holds the drill, 2 batteries, charger and handle with no problem, and the clips are very strong.
There is a 3 year warranty on the drill which is reassuring.
