3.0 out of 5 stars OK but sleeves tight., 8 Jan. 2015

OK but sleeves are very tight. This is often a problem with Calloway. Good for Spring but in winter with a thermal layer you need more room.

My first Ed McBain. Will look forward to more. Plot was not too convoluted so was a relaxing read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable but kids and adults together is not good., 8 Jan. 2015

We all enjoyed the game. It's not too long but you need to be awake as a minute passes very quickly. Can be played individually but it's better in teams. Playing young children with adults in the same teams is not good as the adults are too quick and the children say very little. You need to modify the rules: saying children quess for 30 seconds before the adults can join in would work

Good clear view. Only downside is that it's a little heavy but there again it is solid.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, 26 April 2013

This review is from: The French House (Paperback)
From the information given about the book I expected a story of the struggle to renovate a home in France and the trails and tribulations this produced,an area of interest for me as someone who has set up home here. The first few chapters lived up to expectation with some true to life descriptions of rural French life and of the characters one encounters, along with some of the simple pleasures. I was, therefore, very disappointed when the book quickly became the cliched modern relationship novel that I have rejected so many times before. The characters became so predictable because it has all been done time and time again and the inevitable drinking sessions, gay relationships and wayward Mother meant that finishing the book became a chore not a pleasure. Please can we have descriptions that make the genre of the book clearer!
