4.0 out of 5 stars Not for the hardcore fan, 13 Oct 2005
This review is from: Singles (Audio CD)
Its interesting to hear some peoples views on the Smiths because there are such mixed feelings. The songs are not all miserable and depressing, meloncholy maybe, but in a beautiful and heart-tugging way. Far too many people do not get the irony and humour which is hidden within the miserablism, and that is one of the things that makes the Smiths so unique.
This album is worth getting if maybe you just have a fleeting curiosity towards the Smiths but if you really want to get into them, check out there proper studio albums, you'll find much more substance in those and you will understand the genius of The Smiths in all their flower-bearing, hearing-aid wearing glory!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The cream of British comedy, 3 Oct 2005
Peep show is quite simply one of the best comedies to be seen in years. Its original, dark, real and very funny. For a long time I was trying to work whether I liked it better than the office and.. well.. I do! Strong words I know but watch it and you'll know what I mean, but only if you like your alternative comedy - fans of '2 packets of...' or the god-awful 'gimme gimme gimme' are not going to like this!!!

Beatz And Bobz Vol. 3 - Mixed By Tayo

4.0 out of 5 stars proper undergound sound!, 30 Mar 2005
Tayo is a one of the top breaks djs who definitely has his own sound going on. His own tunes seem to lean towards the more dub-influenced breaks but in his djs sets he always throws in some of the real dirty tear-out stlye breaks, and this CD is a solid mixture of the above.
Stand out tracks are the brilliant 'Romantica' bootleg, Tayo and acid rockers 'Shorty the pimp' and Aquasky's 'war'.
All in all, a very enjoyable mix, bar two or three tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beats that would make a nun shake her ASS!, 15 Feb 2005
Fabric never let you down with their compilation series, and this latest addition is absolutely no exception to that. The Freestylers mash up a whole range of sounds including hip-hop, dub, drum n' bass and electro, resulting in a straight-up dirty 'tear-out' breakbeat sound.
When it comes to dance music, all this boring progressive stuff which is supposed to 'take you on a journey' and is built up of 'subtle grooves' is getting dry in my opinion, so if you like your dance music more in your face, with the kind of energy that instantly makes you want to move then but this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dance floor wizardry, 18 Nov 2004
Along with Tiefschwarz, Ivan (one half of Black Strobe) is one of them producers and D.J.s currently part of a very exciting scene. I don't really know what you would call it, I would like to avoid using the term 'electro-house' because that sounds like one of those sub-genres the media have made up that will soon turn into a passing fad. It doesn't really matter what you call it - I mean its techno, its house, its electro, its acid - its everything! Its just quality dance music. Ivan keeps it interesting all the way through with colourful and energetic tracks like the crazy 'Splitting atoms' and Tiesfchwarz's amazing remix of phoniques 'the red dress'.
This is the real deal, its one of them mixes which seems to capture all the spirit of acid house and combines all the best elements of dance music from the past to the present, whilst managing to keep it sounding fresh and futuristic. Flawless

5.0 out of 5 stars German genius, 16 Nov 2004
Thank the heavens for producers like Tiesfchwarz who, in this age of either god-awful cheesy trance or boring ploddy techy- progressive house keep it real with just basic dirty dancefloor mayhem. For the price of one C.D, you get two discs, the first a D.J. mix of various artists and the second a collection of remixes the duo have done. Tiefschwarz manage two keep a serious element of funk in their music whilst using soaring electro-style synths which creates a combination that can't realy be pinned down as either house, electro or techno.
Tiefschwarz are also another example of why dance music is definately not on the decline (a claim which some small-minded journalists are currently stating), I just feel sorry for these people who are missing out on so much quality music because they are obviously not looking in the right places for it. There is some excellent music and some exciting scenes coming out of the electronic music world at the moment and Tiesfchwarz are testament to that. Buy this.
