1.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste 3 hours of your life, 21 Feb. 2015
This review is from: Boyhood [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
I went into this movie optimistic, it's an unprecedented concept watching someone grow up and to be fair props to it for pulling it off, it cannot have been easy to film it all over 12 years and fair play to it for that. But that's where the praise ends for me. A film for me has to have a good story, be engrossing, draw you into the story, entertain you. None of these are applicable to this film, the story is uninteresting, some of the characters are just downright despicable and abhorrent to watch. There was no connection with the characters on screen, it failed to tell a good story and for that this film was a huge let down. It felt a drag to sit through this film in its entirety as I wanted to turn it off so badly. There was a really good opportunity to have some really dramatic moments here, something to grab the viewer's attention but this did not come, it was a mighty relief when the credits appeared and I happily handed my friend back his Blu Ray. Seriously people watch The Imitation Game or The Theory of Everything, two much better films to come out of this awards season that are worth your time, this is not worth one second of your time

1.0 out of 5 stars A bland 150 minutes ..., 14 Jan. 2015
With critics lavishing high praise on this film, I was curious to see what all the fuss was about and my expectations were raised high, yet the film was a massive disappointment. What I got was a bland 150 minute story about a very famous artist who to his credit is played very well by Timothy Spall. With a lot of grunting he does his best to bring J.M.W Turner to life. Yet the rest of the cast fell completely flat in my opinion. The story was a bit clunky and disjointed and it was far too long in 2 and a half hours. It could have easily been shortened to two hours maximum. I do not understand why this film has been widely received as with one good performance aside and some sound directing, this film is a big disappointment. If you enjoy films, I would give this one a miss, it is slow and at times very boring and is not worth your time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Phase 2 of Marvel, 10 Jun. 2014
This is simply the best Marvel movie of Phase 2 and one of the best Marvel movies ever made. It really improves on the first Captain America movie in almost every respect. Better action, better characters and a much better villain in the Winter Soldier. It carries on events from The Avengers with Captain in the modern world and it is one hell of an entertaining ride! If you have loved Marvel's movies up until now, then you should like this movie! Strongly recommend you check it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tarintino's latest masterpiece, 21 April 2013
From start to finish, this film was simply brilliant!

The film follows Django (Jamie Foxx) who is freed by a bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz). The two become a team of bounty hunters together and ultimately they seek to rescue his wife (Kerry Washington) from a plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio)

The film is well acted by everyone, especially Waltz who fully deserved his Oscar for his role. Di Caprio was also magnificent in his role, as was Foxx. Samuel L Jackson was also in the film and he was also brilliant. It was well directed and had a great soundtrack. Sure the violence is a bit excessive but that is Tarintino for you. The shootout scenes in the film were nothing short of epic and I thoroughly enjoyed this great film and I cannot wait for the DVD! In my opinion, this is Tarintino's best film! Thus I would highly recommend everyone watch this film! You will not be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fantastic, 3 Jan. 2013
Michael McIntyre is a wonderful comedian. This DVD is wonderful with him at his brilliant best. His observational comedy is just awesome as he takes real life situations and makes them absolutely hilarious, he points out things that are so true. Not only is his prepared material wonderful, he can improvise brilliantly as well. Like his previous DVDs, I was crying with laughter by the end. The special features of the DVD also include his stand-up routine from his Christmas Comedy Roadshow! Buy this DVD if you fancy a great laugh!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Outstanding Album, 9 Dec. 2012
This review is from: The 2nd Law (Audio CD)
I have loved Muse since I first listened to them which was around the time of Absolution, which is my favourite album by them. I am a proud owner of all their albums and was very excited for the release of this album. It, like the previous albums, is just superb. Stand out songs include: Supremacy which is a fantastic track with similar elements of the Origin of Symmetry years. Madness is a pop-ish type song but it is still awesome. Panic Station is just a perfect song and my favourite from the album by a distance. The Olympic song Survival is not the best but it's still decent. Follow Me is like the Invincible of this album, a really beautiful song and definitely one of my favourites. Unsustainable, the dubsteppy type song is a bold song by Muse but it still works for me. The other songs are all great pieces of work but do not stand out as much as the ones I've already mentioned. However, all in all, this album is a fantastic piece of work by Muse and I love listening to it. Matt Bellamy has in my opinion, one of the best voices of the 21st century and it is much much better than a lot of the garbage that seems to just get constantly recycled on the radio.

1.0 out of 5 stars All that is wrong with the music industry currently, 17 Nov. 2012
This review is from: Take Me Home (Audio CD)
Words cannot describe how much I detest this "band" and their "music." The X Factor is a rubbish TV programme as losers with no talent get through it and get signed to a record label, it says a lot about them that they auditioned separately and got put together, cos they're too awful to be solo. All their songs sound the exact same, they don't play any instruments whatsoever, their voices are autotuned and all the music is just the same monotonous beat throughout. The only reason that these guys have become as big as they somehow have, is because they are deemed good looking. Looks triumph over talent in music these days (cough Bieber cough) and that is a damning indication of how awful the music industry these days. These bands who have very little talent, who get millions of facebook fans and twitter followers, triumph and get more radio play and more press attention than bands of genuine talent. Anyway like all boybands, these guys will be forgotten about in a few years. But anyone who likes this "band" needs to find some better taste in music. I'm sure the members of the band are nice enough guys, but the "music" they make is nothing short of abysmal.

X-Men: First Class (DVD + Digital Copy)
X-Men: First Class (DVD + Digital Copy)
Dvd ~ James McAvoy
Price: £2.43

5.0 out of 5 stars X Men Absolutely First Class, 22 Jun. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The X Men films were getting a bit rusty and this film has most certainly rebooted this film franchise. It goes back to the beginnings of the X Men and how the mutants were divided in their treatment of humanity, and how Professor X and Magneto were turned from the best of friends to enemies. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender put in some excellent performances as the two lead roles. Jennifer Lawrence also excelled in her performance as Mystqiue. The film has a humourous and the action is superb and I eagerly anticipate the sequel to this film. The X Men have definitely been reborn.

4.0 out of 5 stars A chilling but well made film, 18 Jun. 2012
This review is from: Prometheus [DVD] [2012] (DVD)
Ridley Scott is certainly a talented director who has made some exceptional films such as Blade Runner, Gladiator and Alien. Prometheus does not fall into this category but it was certainly a very well made film. The story basically follows a bunch of explorers who are on an expedition to search for the beginnings of humanity or "Engineers" as they are called. However, the Engineers seek to destroy them and destroy Earth. The action was intense but some scenes were quite gory, with one scene in particular being a very grim scene. But it was a enthralling watch and I had the interesting experience of watching this in IMAX 3D which was pretty awesome. Some exceptional performances as well in particular for Michael Fassebender, Idris Elba and Noomi Rapace. The score for the film like a lot of Ridley Scott films was fantastic and it was certainly a good watch and one that I will happily watch again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!, 13 May 2012
This band are simply brilliant! This album is class with some absolutely first class songs that have a nice beat to them with some powerful and deep songs, such as Punching in a Dream, Young Blood, Eyes and Girls Like You. They are unique compared to most of the modern stuff that is out there. I cannot stop listening to this album!! BUY IT!!! You will not be disappointed
