Why oh why were The Silencers never bigger? This album is a triumph, along with most of their other albums. An uplifting and brilliant album that bears repeated listening.

I am hoping this will be a grower, but after first few listens it is a disappointment, and smacks a little of self-indulgence or lack of the usual level of ideas we have come to expect from Coldplay. They made their name by being different with quirky, intelligent melodies and lyrics that were inspiring and not the usual drab or manufactured pop, but whilst I agree with the last reviewers points about that about a band taking risks to go where they feel is right at the time and not being swayed by commercialism, I had expected more from Coldplay given the genius of much of their previous work. Music should always involve a degree of experimentation and stretching the boundaries, and bands quite rightly get criticized for turning out album after album of the same formula, but people should expect a degree of quality control to justify paying out good money. Really good albums hit you on the first listening and good albums make their case in the first two or three. After half a dozen plays this one hasn't done it yet for me personally, despite the fact that I love all the other Coldplay albums (although the last one has it's lesser moments as well as its dazzling ones). Perhaps it will prove to be a long term grower, and be 'quietly persuasive' as one other reviewer has stated in a clearly well-considered review. I am very open to being persuaded, but am rather frustrated at having to work so hard at it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A hidden gem, 19 Oct. 2012
This is definitely a hidden indie gem. Great melody and pace, full of energy. On the back of this I'll definitely look at more from this band. A welcome addition to my iPod!

A great way to educate your kids about countries of the world ... within a few days my 9 year old son was out doing Dad, Uncles and anyone else who fancied playing - he now knows most of the world flags and recognises most of the names of countries around the world. Also, it appears to go well with his obsession for football following the World Cup and European championships. Ticks all the boxes. (Also, very educational for adults !)

It tells the time, it's easy to set the alarm, but it would be great if the backlight worked and if the snooze function worked. Cheap and cheerful, but sadly not fully functional. I will look at returning this item.

I should start by saying that I am an avid Stranglers fan, and have continued to stick with Hugh Cornwell through his solo years, buying most of his albums, and even pledging to help get the latest one out. Buying Sons of Shiva was to fill in the gaps of the few missing albums in my collection. However, I had not done my homework and was not fully prepared for what I listened to. Be aware this is not a typical Hugh Cornwell album, it is a concept album that combines spoken word lyrics delivered by Sex W Johnston, whom I'm sure someone else will be able to provide further information about, over the top of Hugh's music. Whilst concept of this album is certainly interesting, and the lyrics poetic, vivid and often quite thought-provoking it is not the kind of thing you would necessarily want to listen to on a regular basis. It should perhaps have been put out under joint names rather than designated as Hugh's album. However, in saying that, the strength of the album is that many of the tunes are certainly strong and very listenable. personally I think the album would have been worthy of a far higher score if Hugh had delivered the vocals and if the album was not wholly spoken word, but clearly that was not the idea behind this concept. This a curiosity, and for die hard fans only in my view, to buy once you have everything else. I don't regret buying it, but it won't be the kind of album I play very often at all.

I had a Molly with Pop Eye that was looking like a lost cause, but a 5 day treatment (I used 3 tablets per day for my 110 litre tank) cured it. Very happy with the product and will get some more to keep in stock

My totally unexpected favourite album of the year. It's not quite like anything else, but is a beautiful, haunting, melodic album that bears listening to time and time again. Rockford's Return is brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real gem of a song !, 10 Oct. 2009
No idea who these guys are, but stumbled across this and listened to a few of their songs, many of which would stand up against a lot of stuff that comes and goes in the charts and on mainstream radio, but this one in particular is in my opinion a real gem - a well written, catchy tune. Loved it.

My son loves all things "cars", so the idea of this as a cheap driving game seemed a good one, but rather disappointingly this is not a great game - poor graphics and not particularly captivating storyline. Despite an initial 2 or 3 days of trying it out, he soon lost interest and has gone back to the more interesting games - Lego Star Wars, Mario Karts, etc. My advice - don't bother, save your money for a better game - you get what you pay for.
