1.0 out of 5 stars long winded, 23 Sep 2010

Verbose waffle from an opinionated writer. Too little information about the technical aspects of the LP development. A very dull read.

5.0 out of 5 stars extraordinary Purcell, 30 Nov 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Another great CD from the seemingly infallible Jordi Savall. Wonderful music, beautifully played. Purcell has never sounded better. It's a real tour de force, an exceptional recording. I've not heard a better example of the art of realistic sound recording. It's breathtaking. With good sound equipment this will blow your socks off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent photographic anthology..., 9 July 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A really interesting and well presented anthology of photographic history. There are some disappointing omissions but given that it's one man's views that is inevitable. It's still a terrific book for anyone with an interest in photographic history and a compilation of some fantastic images. It really is a must, and such a steal of a price.

1.0 out of 5 stars poor Peter Sellers, 9 July 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Heavens Above! [DVD] (DVD)
A truly dreadful film. Inane, uninvolving, a waste of some usually great actors and a poor representation of Peter Sellers gifts.

5.0 out of 5 stars a pocketable companion, 14 May 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A great book for the enthusiastic walker, and just the right size for pocket or rucksack. You may need additional OS maps to accompany your walks but this is a fine companion to give interesting and useful information for those that enjoy country outings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading for all, 14 May 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is an extraordinary book. There can be nothing like it. It is the most mind opening and enlightening presentation of the energy problems of the world, and in particular those that effect Great Britain. Although largely full of scientific information and data it is presented in a unique and completely understandable way. The examples given and the accompanying illustrations, cartoons and graphs make for a riveting read. It is always interesting. The author has a lovely turn of phrase and is full of dry wit and insight. My partner and I were constantly fighting over it, each trying to sneak it away to continue reading. We both agreed that it was a most rewarding book to read, essential in fact. It will open your minds, as it did ours. Please do read it.

3.0 out of 5 stars a perfect hub..., 17 Oct 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A perfectly wonderful unit, couldn't be improved. It's neat, very solid with it's weighted base, the sockets are well spaced and the indication lights suitably discrete. Well worth the money (p.s. but after 2 years some of the connections have failed. Very disappointing).

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware..., 3 Oct 2008
I've just had to replace this unit for the second time, the first under warranty, this time not. Both had the same faults: sockets failed in turn, this time three of the seven gave up the ghost. Look elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gore blimey..., 27 Jun 2008

As a late discoverer of Gore Vidal I am amazed at his literary dexterity. Such an erudite observer of America, the world, himself, and all of life. The essential ironic American. A rewarding read. Now to read more Gore...
