A great hat if you're looking for a Peter Grimm alternative. I won't hesitate to buy another when this one starts to fray which it hasn't yet where my previous Peter Grimm's would have done.

A great light at a great price. I know that it has to go in the bin when it dies, but given the time I can have it on for owing to the low power consumption alone makes it well worth the spend. Gives at least as much light as the 120watt halogen it replaced.

Requires some elbow grease and a bit of common sense, but does what it says and save me 600 quid on after market, chavvy replacement lights making this stuff a bargain.! My 350Z Roadster now looks like it was meant to and almost like new from the front with sparkling headlight glass as opposed to milky and oxidised.

Amongst the huge number of onesies out there, these are stand out. Great quality and a great price. These were replacements for M&S ones that my boys had grown of. The stepped into these and would, if allowed to, live in them.

I am sure it works fine when it's fitted and seemed to be a well made bit of kit, however, the low rating is for Honeywell support or lack of. Advertised as a direct replacement for various valves including Drayton I ordered one expecting a three minute job to fit it. Alas, the fitting was too large and none of the supplied adapters worked.

As we all know, a product is more than just the sum of it's parts, in this day and age it needs to be well supported and in my not-so-humble opinion there is no excuse for a hard to obtain support. Infuriatingly, the only line of support is a premium rate telephone line and I refuse to pay for support on a product that has been incorrectly advertised so a return it has become. A shame as there were five other radiators I wanted to attach these to.

If you are thinking of buying one of these, make absolutely sure the fitting matches to avoid the inconvenience of returns.

As ever, one can only sing the praises of Amazon for making the returns process so simple and effective.

The Israel-Palestine Conflict: One Hundred Years of War

4.0 out of 5 stars A very important piece of literature., 1 Dec. 2014
I do feel rather compelled to review this book given the single star it received from one other reader. Reviews are supposed to be based on the content of the book, not the method of delivery a previous reviewer very unfairly posted! I purchased this book some years ago in paperback and it had remained on or near my bedside table since.

The sense of historical context is never lost. One never feels a bias from the author; given the subject to matter this must not be overlooked. Whilst reading a feeling of gratitude was never far away; gratitude that someone had been able to unravel such a complex piece of ancient and contemporary history in order that I, an interested onlooker, could better understand in some reasonable depth.

If the ongoing struggles in the Middle East have more than just your casual attention, but you don't really want to feel like a student, this book should be high up on your list.

And a big 'Thank you' to Mr. Galvin for it.

These headsets are a great example of how buying online can catch you out. As soon as you get these out of the box they feel cheap. All the nice touches that look trick on a photo actually aren't. The units are essentially CAD pieces of ABS that snap together and are held by very small screws. The 'joint' that allows the earpiece to swivel to fit the user's head is one reason alone not to buy this product. One of my sons accidentally caught the cable with his foot and pulled the headset to the ground which was an 18 inch drop onto deep pile carped. The joint from the headband to the earpiece still snapped leaving the right earpiece hanging by a cable; an hour to repair with my own components. I brought two pairs of these, one for each of my sons for Xmas 2013 and two weeks ago (early April) the boom microphone has stopped working on the second pair. All the wires are still attached inside the headset and to the boom so I assume the mic has just died. There was only a 30 day return on these; one pair is in a state of repair whilst the other is only 50% functional...for a purchase price of £143!!??

I always had ThermalTake down as a brand of quality but my opinion on this has shifted. I rather wish I had spent the money on the Plantronics equivalent.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Nice idea but..., 26 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As a gaming tablet like this and of this specification was not available in the UK I took what I saw to be a small risk in purchasing from a seller in Germany. The item cam in relatively good time, though I have had items from Hong Kong ome far quicker! On first boot, Adnroid initialised itself quite happily and I went through the familar steps of setting up WiFi and accounts without a problem. The screen is bright and well contrasted, the multi-touch works well as do the controls. All-in-all the the item felt well built and relatively robust with the slight exception of the L1 and R1 buttons which rattle in their housings a little.

It quickly transpired that there was something wrong with the device when applications started to abend dumping the user back to the home screen. Having tried various modes of operation the roblem persisted and a significant number of times caused the unit to go into an unrecoverable loop. Only a forced power down via the powerbutton would break the loop. This, to me, is indicative of faulty hardware, probably GPU.

The seller would not respond to emails or contacts for either a replacement or refund. Fortunately, before purchase I ensured that Amazon covered the purchase under their Square Deal policy and they are prepared to cover my loss, though the date for this has not yet elapsed. I have, like so many, only had positive experiences with Amazon regarding purchases that didn't turn out so well. There is, therefore, no reason to believe that this will be an exception.

Amazon have a model customer service policy as has been said by so many and I will always buy with confidence. It is, however, a terrible shame that some selles, such as myHDplayer-de will be so dillatory in their obligation to re-inforce this consumer confidence.

A real let down, this one, as it was my son's 11th birthday present for which he saved and contributed a substantial amount. To date he still doesn't have a working product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Paying through the nose, 11 Dec. 2012
It's a fact that people only review a product they've purchased badly if either the product goes wrong or there is a problem with customer service, for obvious reasons.

There are 4 tablet devices in our house, a house inhabited by me, my wife and two children aged 9 & 10. 3 of the tablets are Android based and one is iOS based; an Apple iPad 2. When allowed to play on any of the devices, my kids go for the iPad every time it's available yet it's the most uncomfortable to hold for prolonged periods, it's by far the most expensive, it has the least on it because the apps and media are extortionate, it's the only one that won't stream media across the home network, it's the only one that won't 'talk' to any other device on the network and it has absolutely no expansion capability. So why do they use it? Ask them and they can't identify why. Ask a few (non-leading) questions and it soon becomes apparent that it's because all their mates and mates parent's have one and they don't want to look or feel different. Hmmm!

Apple still consider it realistic to have a huge price tag for their hardware as their consumers will still pay for it because of the image / branding (most Apple consumers consider the products for the 'arty' or the 'creative' and Android based products 'geeky' and 'inferior'). This is why Apple hardware and, therefore, the company is currently far more profitable that it's direct competitors. Their consumers are paying through the nose for the hardware in the first instance and are then psudo-locked into iTunes which ensures that their users pay an extortionate price for media (unless you know how to jailbreak your unit).

Think hard, because once you've made the plunge into Apple it takes an extremely deturmined user to move to another platform. Most Apple users, in the unlikely event of deciding to switch would need to apply for technical help to do so, which normally provides the somewhat hefty looking straw to take to the camels back. And that assumes that the Apple user is able to swallow the bitter pill of having to face the fact they were stitched up like a kipper because they were naive to the issues and sucked in by the (relative) good looks and the marketing...oh! and having shown all their friends how wonderful their device is which persuaded them to go out and buy one too. Look at it another way, The Apple user considers that a Chateau Lafite should accompany their iProduct use and every other product user would open either a Blue Nun at best or more likely a can of Special Brew.

Very clever marketing indeed when one considers that there is little more than breadth of the hair from the leg of a gnat to seperate the main players in the tablet market from the perspectives of both hardware and operating system.

If all you really want to do surf the net, pickup and send email, play the odd game or read a book / magazine, but not for too long because the heel of your thumb will sting after 5 minutes unless the device is resting on your lap and you don't mind paying a fortune for music, video and the device in the first instance, this is a great device to have. If, however, you want to do all that and more, with far less initial expenditure and far less ongoing cost as well as being to upgrade the device capacity whenever you like at very little cost, then choose from the one of the many other great devices out there.
