5.0 out of 5 stars want an A grade for Maths A-level? look no further!, 27 April 2006
This book is brilliant - it is not a textbook but a book full of questions to help you practise in preparation for your Maths exams. As Maths A-level has been divided up into so many modules, often students will not have had enough practice to consolidate their knowledge. This book does it for you.

At the beginning of each topic there is a summary of key points to help you with the questions. The questions are arranged in increasing difficulty, allowing no gaps in the foundation needed to attempt the more challenging questions. There are even past questions from as far back as 1964, and also a few past STEP questions slipped in to challenge the more able mathematician.

If you're willing to sit down and attempt the majority of this book, then I can assure you that's 80% of revision done! Now all you need is to do past papers from your exam board and you're done.

Maths at A-level is all about practice - and no other book (that I have found) does it better! Buy it if you want an A.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for Further Maths!, 27 April 2006
I agree with another reviewer that this book is the most user-friendly text for Further Maths A-level. The worked examples are clear and easy to follow. There are lots of past exam questions as well for practice. I have found the notes to be more coherent than those in my exam board's (Edexcel) textbooks.

It should be used in conjunction with your exam board's textbooks, because obviously every board has a different syllabus.

I am sitting for my Further Maths exams this summer and I feel confident thanks to this book - buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars great book if you're doing the mechanics modules for further maths A-level, 26 April 2006
This review is from: Further Mechanics (Paperback)
mechanics in further maths has been divided up into many modules, thus breaking big topics into small parts which has confused me a lot. this book manages to condense the huge topics thus giving you good understanding of the topic as a whole - for example, motion with variable mass and motion with variable forces is covered under one heading: general motion in one dimension.

the book also contains notes and exercises on the pure maths which is necessary for further mechanics modules eg. differential equations and intrinsic coordinates.

vectors is broken up into manageable parts as well.

however, i feel the book does not give enough examples on the more difficult questions hence i only gave it 4 stars. BUT if you are better at maths than i am then you probably don't need those!

5.0 out of 5 stars The ideal book! Buy it if you want an A in Maths, 16 Aug 2005
This book is excellent if you are doing A-level Maths. There is a very useful chapter on introductory work, which helps immensely with the rest of the course. This book is also useful for those who are taking A-level Further Maths, as it covers so much more than the basic stuff. Trust me, I'm a student doing Double maths at a level!
