So far perfect. After hours of finding exactly the right specification memory, I fitted it in an HP EliteBook 8560W Workstation laptop, bottom slot, next to original 4GB RAM. Works perfectly, no glitches, no noticeable slowdowns.

TIP: Before you fit it, get a pencil eraser and rub the gold contacts to make sure they are perfectly clean. It was only after I followed this tip that the HP recognised the memory.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fundamental flaw: sound quality, 29 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This must be the simplest and cheapest possible way to hear your old record collection, but it has a fundamental flaw: sound quality. The device works perfectly in the mechanical sense; the needle follows the record and sound is recorded. Unfortunately, that sound is exceedingly 'thin' and lacking in bass. This is because the device does not seem to use any RIAA correction before sending the sound up the USB cable (see "RIAA equalization" on Wikipedia). This tonal correction is essential for reconstructing the sound from a vinyl record. Either that, or it is supplied with an incredibly poor quality stylus, although top end detail is all there. I had to load every recorded file into Audacity and attempt to recreate the RIAA curve to bring back the correct tone. If you have a precious record collection that you wish to preserve (and not just listen to in tinny transistor radio quality) do not buy this device.

The Nerdy Nummies Cookbook: Sweet Treats for the Geek in all of Us
The Nerdy Nummies Cookbook: Sweet Treats for the Geek in all of Us

1.0 out of 5 stars Only for Americans who don't own any scales, 29 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Rosanna Pansino is a delight to watch on YouTube, but don't bother with the book unless you are American, and I mean very American. Every measurement is specified in arcane U.S. units like 'cups'. This same stupid unit is used for fluids, flour, sugar, 'powdered sugar' and 'heavy cream' - all of which result in a different weight for each substance. It also uses weird things like 'sticks' of butter, and of course the stupid Fahrenheit for temperatures instead of the scientifically useful Celsius unit (or simple 'gas mark' value) that is marked on most people's ovens. There are long conversion tables at the back of the book, but that's not much use when your hands are already covered in fat and the recipe specifies half a cup of sugar and 1/2 fluid ounce of milk.

If you have children who have been sensibly brought up knowing only metric units, this book is hopelessly disappointing. Even if you are an adult who knows about imperial units, it's still incredibly frustrating. I tried making a couple of recipes with my daughter. They are all incredibly rich and take hours of fussing to complete, something that's concealed on cleverly produced YouTube videos. The book now gathers dust (ounces of it).

Ass Savers Extended Road Mud Guard - Black, 37 cm

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this, 29 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This device is virtually useless. I bought the 'extended' version but it is still nowhere near long enough to catch the spray from an ordinary road bike wheel. Your shorts might be drier, but the top of your back and neck will still have a nice muddy stripe. It's weak and goes crooked too easily so that water fires up the side of it. Don't waste your time or money trying this. Either buy a proper mudguard or make your own - it'll probably be better.

2.0 out of 5 stars XL is a relative term - they don't last very long at all, 29 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These 551XL cartridges don't last anywhere near as long as they should, and certainly only half as long as the standard CLI-8 cartridges used by my previous Canon printer. Either Canon have greedily downgraded the size of their ink cartridges (the Wagon Wheel trick) or my new Pixma MG6650 is wasting a massive amount of ink.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last I'm making music again, 12 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A few years ago I bought FL Studio, wowed by its free updates for life, pretty looking interface and [utterly false] claims of being the 'fastest way from your brain to your speakers.' It didn't take long to realise that I'd been sucked in by a pack of lies - I spent 90% of every 'music' session fighting its appalling interface and stupid workflow, so gave up making electronic music. Roll on a few years, and I happened to read a review of Cubase Elements 8. I'm so glad I did. With FL Studio uninstalled and forgotten like a bad dream, for the first time in ages I can't wait to open up Cubase to make some more music because it just works like you'd expect. The shortcuts are better, the editors are better, the interface is better, and the 'engines' underneath are better (lower latency, no stuttering). The Elements version is so comprehensive (just download some extra free VST instruments and effects) that you'd need to be a very serious music maker or pro to need the expensive versions. I'd say 'just buy it'. At this price you can't go wrong.

Continental Grand Sport Race Road Tyre
Continental Grand Sport Race Road Tyre

4.0 out of 5 stars Great tyre, a pig to fit, 12 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This tyre is a very good quality product as you'd expect from Conti. However, after 30 years of riding bikes and mending punctures, this was the most difficult tyre to fit. Because the tyre is folded into a box the bead has no natural rigidity, so it's already a bit more awkward to get the first edge seated in the rim all round (while the tyre tries to twist itself into knots like a rubber band). The inner tube then goes in fine, but getting the second bead onto the rim is impossible to do with your fingers unless you are Superman. So for the first time ever I was forced to break the golden rule and use the tyre levers to force the bead over the rim. After all that mangling and swearing the tyre is miraculously free of bananas and lumps when you spin the rim, which is nice. Only when it was fitted did I notice the little word 'Rotation' printed on one side of the tyre. Since the tyre is treadless on the riding surface , the rotation indicator seems slightly ridiculous for a bike tyre, but be warned if you are a details freak - you won't want to fit this tyre again!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not super at all, it's rubbish. Time to give up?, 22 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Super (Audio CD)
Oh dear, things are going downhill for PSB. This is a lame set of songs, reminding me much of Bilingual in its awkward sound. 'Undertow' sounds oddly like a reworking of 'Twentieth Century' from the album Fundamental, and the rest is just formulaic commercial radio noise that any bedroom artist could have thrown together. The weak attempt to sound fresh and modern ends up sounding very 1990's overall. As usual some of Neil's clever lyrics (like The Dictator Decides) are thought provoking, but in total only 3 out of 12 tracks even qualify as being Pet Shop Boys songs. Makes you wonder why they bothered releasing such rubbish.

More of the same, the usual EA rip-off. Make very few changes from the previous version, and charge full price each year. Playing on a top quality 42" screen, the blue and red triangular markers on the players heads have got even smaller, making it virtually impossible to quickly distinguish which player is selected. And if the blue player gets a yellow card, the blue marker gets a yellow boundary, making a near-green marker that dissolves into the playing field. Rubbish design EA - we don't all have 75" 4K screens!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent follow up, 6 Jan. 2016

The songs are, as ever, brilliant. And at the end of the typically energetic set of very original Chvrches tracks, 'Afterglow' comes along and tears your heart out. Lauren at her best, recorded beautifully, and more emotional than 20 overcooked Adele ballads. Similarly 'Down Side of Me' also builds to a sweet and beautiful ending. I'd prefer to give it 4.5 stars overall because the recording of Lauren's vocals on some of the tracks is poor. She is made to shout and strain to be heard over the synths, which is silly. I wish they had given Lauren the chance to work within her vocal range on all tracks (like Afterglow).
