I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is well written and has just sufficient technical detail to give the book credibility. A bit too much of the book is spent extolling pilot Bill Waterton but his forthright views both as a pilot and subsequently as a journalist (Daily Express) have perhaps been kept quiet for too long and this book rectifies that to some extent. Anyone interested in the demise of the UK as a world power in technology, manufacturing and engineering should read this book even if you have little interest in aircraft. In today's political climate which seems to imply that the UK needs to boost its manufacturing base the book is a reminder of how we got things wrong half a century ago.
