It'll grab you and pull you in!, 28 Mar. 2005
I knew this was going to be a good book as after about 50 pages I didn't want to do anything else. I unwillingly put it down in the evening as my eyelids started to close themselves, and I didn't want to do any other 'normal' bank holiday activities except read. I knew before I read the book that I liked the concept, but the author took it some place itself, and did things with the story that just made writing and story-telling so effortless.
The characters, Henry and Clare, are really rounded and I really got a sense of their family and friends, as well as themselves. I felt a real empathy with them throughout the book.
The author made the story seem so real and lifelike. After a few hours reading I had to put my mind back in 'real life' as I might well have thought that time-travelling was the norm.
When I put it down at the end I just wanted to hug my boyfriend and celebrate extraordinary relationships.
