The breakthrough they deserved, 8 Mar. 2001
Firstly i would like to point out to the reviewer of this album on Amazon that in 'Fire' it was the late, great HIlel Slovak playing the guitar( check the album booklet) and not John Frusciante as stated in the review. Now for the review,I fell this album was the beginning of a different Chili Peppers sound. It does have the feel of a more commercial band than the early 80's funk band. But saying that this album is very strong but in my opinion it is not as good as The Uplift Mofo Party Plan. You do clearly notice the difference but that isnt a bad thing as this was the beginning of the Chili peppers sucess which they deserved.Highlights in this album are Taste THe pain, Good time boys, knock me down and Fire.
