the ''ram''ifications of going solo, 3 Feb 2004
Macca at his best - surely a notch up on ''McCartney'' in terms of quality, although Ram rather inconsistently shows Paul to be at the peak of his game. Let's not forget that all 4 beatles were capable of pure dross in the 70's and certainly macca was as guilty as the rest but have a listen to ''Too Many People'' (note : ''piss of cake'' joke from part-time comedian Pauly) and you're getting an open letter to John and Yoko.
Listen to ''Uncle Albert'' and you're getting a unique pop song with at least 4 different parts. ''Heart of the Country'' is a lovely folk style wish list from Farmer McCartney - reminiscent of ''Mother Nature's Son'' from the White Album.
.....and finally pin your lugholes to ''Dear Boy'' a gorgeous Beach Boys pastiche and again another open letter to Linda's ex.
The man is a genius - no surprise there but it is a surprise to those who systematically put down anything post Beatles and assume Macca spent the last 34 years pratting about writing syrupy love songs - GET WITH THE PROGRAM PEOPLE AND BUY RAM AND WHILE YOUR AT IT HAVE A LISTEN TO MCCARTNEY!!!!!!!
