5.0 out of 5 stars An exceptional book, 25 April 2015

This book provides a fascinating description of money before, during and after the French revolution. It shows how closely the concept of money is tied to the beliefs of the people who use it, and how badly things can go wrong when old beliefs and truths are uprooted by revolution. Weirdly, it also suggests some parallels between "old fashioned" forms of financial documents which existed before the French revolution (on the one hand) and bitcoin (on the other hand); perhaps some things really don't change. I am not a historian or an economist but this book was very approachable, partly because the author's writing style was exceptionally clear. I would go as far as to say that this is one of the best-written books I have read in a long time.

Great game - love the ridiculous costumes, and the gameplay is just fantastic. The kids love it as well, and it's perfect for a 4-player session - just don't be surprised if you look up and find you've been playing for the past five hours.

An entertaining story of looting, death and retribution set in Paraguay, the United States and Estonia - gripping and entertaining at the same time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good, 15 Dec. 2009

This was a surprisingly good series. The basic premise is pretty standard - new fresher starts at bland university, gets into ridiculous sitcom style scrapes - but it was executed very well and had a slightly surreal / depraved edge that anyone who likes Family Guy and the like would appreciate. The acting in particular was very good. I highly recommend giving it a try.

... but well written and fun to read. If anyone out there needs convincing that debt is a one-way trip to disaster then this is a good starting-point.

5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best British comedy, 13 Sept. 2005

This one is up there with the Office and Alan Partridge. In Mark and Jez, the creators have invented two monumentally tragic characters. The DVD comes with some pretty entertaining extras as well, but nothing comes close to the quality of the six episodes themselves. The episode with Johnson was possibly the best single half hour of comedy I have seen. I'm counting the days to series two.
