Going To Hell - A Tribute To A
Going To Hell - A Tribute To A
Offered by TwoRedSevens
Price: £2.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, 23 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very enjoyable cover versions.
Very close to the original versions, the cover artists have chosen not to change things too much.
This though does give new life into old songs that do now sound dated.
By the way....These are the same versions that are on the tribute cd's Humanary Stew & Wecome To My Nightmare, but Humanary Stew only has 12 tracks not 14.

5.0 out of 5 stars YES, 22 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Blood (Audio CD)
This album gets a big YES from me. I only give 5 stars when something special comes along, and here it is.
It's true that In This Moment have progressed to a heavier sound than on the first 2 albums, but they are all the better for it.
In my opinion this is not just an album of tracks as another reviewer has said. I'm sure it is a Vampire concept album.
With many concept albums there always seems to be filler tracks to go along with the story. Not the case here, all the tracks are very good, and there is a darker feel to the whole album compared to the earlier ones.
The short intro tracks add to the atmosphere of the whole concept and the last track 11 - 11 rounds it off nicely.
Maria Brinks vocals in my opinion have improved, and there are some awesome BLOOD curdling screams and growls going on, just check out the track 'Burn' if you don't believe me.
Best tracks (for me) are:
Blood
Burn
Form The Ashes
Comanche
O.K Now go buy it, and play it to death like I have.
P.S Nothing like Pantera with a female vocalist.

4.0 out of 5 stars VERY Good.....But, 12 Dec. 2012
This could have been a classic. The music, vocals, crowd atmosphere, band performance and sound quality are all excellent. The extras are very interesting. And also there are 2 videos. So why only 4 stars ?
Well, it's just that i have seen much better filmed concerts. The camera shots AT TIMES are done with hand held cameras loads of em at that, from nearly everywhere in the venue . This may be down to a tight budget and to be honest everything else about the gig outweighs this by a mile and it is still a VERY GOOD DVD and well worth getting.
This will be watched many times over.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Album, With A Big Let Down, 11 Mar. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Brilliant album, all the 3 bonus tracks are very good and better than some of the original album tracks but the track *SECOND CHANCE IS MISSING* WHY? This is a big let down, so only 4 stars, would have been 5

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have, 14 Feb. 2010
Brilliant concert with some great old tracks played.
This is a brilliant DVD with everything you could ask for,Interviews, videos.
Even footage from the very begining. I nearly shed a tear at the end of this farewell concert, as this of course is the end of a brilliant and underated band.

3.0 out of 5 stars Anoraks Only, 26 Dec. 2008
If you have been after the very rare The Day Of The Dead E.P then you will have to buy this as all the tracks are here.
In fact this cd is all about rare stuff, there are some pre polkadot demos' a few rare studio tracks and rare live tracks, some taken from the new DFDVD II farewell concert DVD.
But this makes it just an average collection of tracks. If you are a DFD anorak then it's a must have.
But if you are looking for somthing new to get excited about then this could be dissapointing.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Next Step......Nearly There......, 26 Dec. 2008
This review is from: The Embryo's in Bloom (Audio CD)
This is the next step on from Experiments in alchemy, and it's a step in the right direction. Again some of the songs are the same, but the production and remixed versions are clearer and better. All the new tracks are good and interesting to compare to later versions on Anarchists and committed to a bright future. Still the sound is not right but it's nearly there and is the next step towards the sound DFD were searching for. DFD went on to re-record most of these tracks on later albums and the finished versions on Anarchists of good taste and committed to a bright future are perfection.
Overall this is a more consistent cd than Experiments in alchemy, and is worth buying.
3 and a half stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, 18 Dec. 2008
This review is from: Experiments In Alchemy (Audio CD)
If you are a big big fan of DFD and you already have Anarchists of good taste & Commited to a bright future, then you will probably have an uncontrolable urge to buy this for the few different tracks on this cd like i did.
The tracks are o.k, but thats about it, the other tracks that you would have already heard on the other albums are the very first released versions
which i must say are not as good, and also sound like demo's. But also i must say that they are interesting to compare to later versions.
If you want this cd to complete your DFD collection then go ahead , but you will probably play it a couple of times then forget about it.

1.0 out of 5 stars BORING,BORING...............BORING, 13 Dec. 2008
This review is from: Together We're Stranger (Audio CD)
Do i need to say anymore?
Well o.k then. I bought this because i'm a big fan of porcupine tree, and blackfield, but believe me this is so boring.
Yes it's atmospheric, but it's so slow moving i can't remember any of the songs.
Played it three times but can't get through it all, it just drags on and on.
Can't understand the good reviews either.
Don't waste your money on this, like i did.
sorry but this is poor.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Live Album, 16 Oct. 2008
This review is from: City Is Alive Tonight (Audio CD)
All DFD fans should own this, great songs, good atmosphere, o.k some songs are not done perfect but who could do DFD songs perfect live anyway.
Also we are treated to rare songs, Rat on a sinking ship,Baby satan and Breed a Nirvana cover.
The real treat here is the bonus DVD, so make sure you get it.
It shows the whole live concert, and documentery with the band which will give you an indication why they sadly ended splitting.
