This review is from: Bwana Karani (Paperback)
A good fun read. Very enjoyable. Mr. Maciel's take on the regions of Kenya he worked on are spot on and consistent with others who worked there. It was was nice to read about working and living in these regions of Kenya from a Goan perspective.

Very enjoyable book. A couple corrections: 1) Page 52: Maria Kani is actually spelled Mariakani. The town of Mariakani is named after the American cloth sold in the region by American ships during the 19th century. Mariakani is a twist on American; 2) Page 54: Construction on the railway began in 1886, not 1986.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saving History, 21 Sept. 2013
Juliet has done an outstanding job of tracking down the past and bringing old ruins to life. While the mud bricks will eventually melt forever into East Africa's soil and the last of the cedar shingles are used as kindling, her written words will preserve this most fascinating and most written about period and place in Africa's history.
