Great music, full of feeling, cd didn't read right on windows media player, so I had to type in Hungarian, but the whole lot of the Lakatos family seem to be great musicians.

The singers and recordings on this disc are top class, wonderful Pakistani sufi music, the notes say summat about the singers, but nowt about the songs themselves. Just sit back and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ladakh not Tibet, but it's still right good, 25 Feb 2014
This review is from: Music of Tibet (Audio CD)
This is a right good recording of Gelugpa Buddhist music mostly sung by the nuns of Chuchikjall Gompa near Karsha in Zanskar in Ladakh, NOT Tibet although Ladakh shares much of its culture & language with Tibet including Vajrayana Buddhism. The notes on the cd I have are quite good with information about the gompa and nuns, but without much information about the chants themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great selection of players and tunes, 4 Nov 2013

Great selection of players and tunes, wonderful music in itself solo and with accompaniment, but also a good introduction to and taster of some of the styles and harpers of Wales. Second cd is a bit short, there are some crossovers with ''Gwlad y Delyn'' cd, all the harpers are from the Sain label and there isn't a lot of information about each track, but I don't think that really matters. Great music and great value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good music, poor info, 13 May 2013

Some good music and songs, a broad range of traditional Greek dhimotika from the islands and the mainland with fiddle, lyra, laouto, klarino and santouri included. I can tell who some of the artists are like Georgos Avissinos, Aristidhis Moschos and Vasilis Skoulas but there's little information in the liner notes and the dance steps included aren't up to much. Still it's good listening and especially for anybody who doesn't know a right lot about Greek folk music this is a good introduction as well.

Good singer, traditional Gaelic singing from Barra and good accompanists, but recorded separately in different studios. I still recommend it though. The liner notes are thorough with all the Gaelic words and English translations.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great selection of music well played, 22 Feb 2013

A great selection of music well played, Ladislav Kyselyak on viola, Jiri Stivin on recorder are wonderful to hear as are the other soloists and the Capella Istropolitana. This is a first rate cd of well chosen, well played, varied and well recorded music . Anybody wanting just one cd of Telemann's music or a taster of his music probably couldn't do much better than to get this. I bought it years ago, still enjoy it a right lot and have bought it since for friends and family. I can't think of aught to fault it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mostly gentle modern folk music, 22 Feb 2013

Mostly gentle modern folk music, I've heard Catriona McKay and Chris Stout playing in Rothbury and Sheffield where they were outstanding and ever so lively. This is an older recording which is mostly softer and slower, but it's good and her/ their style of playing is lovely to hear.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mostly gentle songs, well sung, 22 Feb 2013

Mostly gentle songs, well sung. I will listen to it more, but I'm used to their old livelier recordings with real depth of feeling and liveliness. This is still pretty good, but more like gentle folk music. There are lyrics included, but no translations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but a bit uneven, 22 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Good Recording and singing, but some of the singing is a bit uneven to my ears. Maybe I need to listen to it a bit more. Unusual and interesting to hear French protestant music. I couldn't find another cd by this composer and this was recommended in one of the Classical Music guides. The liner notes are good and informative and all the lyrics are included, but with no translations.
