3.0 out of 5 stars destined for greater things., 10 Jan. 2005
This review is from: Von (Audio CD)
It's nice to see this early release from Sigur Ros make it over here, originally i had to import mine from Iceland. However for those of you familiar with the likes of ( ) or Agaetis Byrjun, this album may come as a bit of a disappointment. Instead of the amazing sounds crafted on the two latter albums, Von has a much more sparse feel to it, reminissent of early Slowdive, with definate nods to a more gothic sound.
Von is definately one for the collection, but not one to take your breath away.

5.0 out of 5 stars essential, 12 Dec. 2004
This review is from: Irony Is (Audio CD)
i love this album!! i bought musicians are morons ep and the and/or ep on a whim, amd liked what i heard, so when i finally got my grubby mits on the album i already had high expectations, the album exceeded them.
Its pure slow, but hard driven industrial, hip hop groove that comes from the distorted loops and dirty bass fuzzing out of the speakers always hit the spot.
I have been lucky enough to see 2nd Gen live twice and both times he has impressed the hell out of me, and with his second album "Flicknives" only adding to his impressive CV i think 2nd Gen is just going to go from strenth to strength.

5.0 out of 5 stars a little love in a big world, 10 Sept. 2004
This review is from: Nufonia Must Fall (Paperback)
I bought this book the other day and fianlly got round to "reading" it last night. I put on the accompanying CD and sat back in bed. The gentle ambient tones crackled through the speakers as the brilliantly drawn love story unfolded. This is an amazing book and a beautiful little CD if a little short at just over 16mins, but that is just enough time to read the book, although if you want to take longer to read it you can always just press "repeat." I have never heard much Kid Koala before, and I'm sure the music here is different to his usual output, but nonetheless it is definately worth a look.

4.0 out of 5 stars Raving In Hell, 11 Dec. 2003
This review is from: Housebastards (Audio CD)
Think About Mutation are one of those forgotten gems of the industrial cross-over scene. I don't think they had the tunes or the staying power that label mates Cubanate had, but still their unique sound deserves attention. Juggling fast thrash guitar riffs, growling vocals and rave style dance beats. This album is a worth while addition to anyones collection, and does include an amazing cover of Big Black's "kerosene" which for me, really makes this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says on the tin., 11 Dec. 2003
This review is from: Hellraver (Audio CD)
"Metal hacking industrialism" or so the Dynamica label tag goes, and that is exactly what you get here. Perhaps not as good as label mates Cubanate, but certainly worth a look. Whigfield samples, rave style dance beats and slayer-esque guitars. "Hellraver" is a pretty apt title for this album, although perhaps a bit dated in today's musical climate, but certainly well worth a look.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheesy Horror Central, 11 Dec. 2003
As comedy-horror films go, this is one of my personal favourites. The film exudes pure tongue in cheek class. The film has everything from clown style killings, such as death by shadow puppet, victims being trapped in balloons to be stored later in candyfloss only to have their blood sucked out through incredibly long straws, and who could forget the infamous popcorn gun!!! So what are you waiting for, buy it now!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gridlock - "trace" album review, 9 Jan. 2003
This review is from: Exoskeleton 3 (Audio CD)
Unlike previous outings from gridlock, this album is very very ambient. you could be mistaken for thinking that you were listening to autechre or beefcake. The whole album flows along beautifully creating one of the best soundscapes i have heard since autechre's amber album. tracks like uh4.17 add to the mix bringing a little more of the harsher industrial back into the scene, but the two styles compliment each other with great effect.
i would seriously recomend this album to anyone who was a fan of ambient or industrial noise/ power electo.
