Not Credible, 30 Dec 2013
I bought this having read the good reviews and it is disappointing to discover those reviews could not be trusted. The story is totally unbelievable - the team are sent back in time with a cover story and are supposed to be exiles who have lived for years in France. None can speak French, though all medieval nobles were fluent, and spoke medieval French at that. Not one of them would have survived for more than a few minutes. The language is modern English with colloquialism that people of that time would have found incomprehensible. I know it is a fantasy but I would expect some attempt at producing a credible storyline. The book is, in fact, annoying to read and I have not bothered to finish it. The historical bits are, not surprisingly, trite, often inaccurate and poorly researched. If you are a fan of historical fiction, leave this one well alone.
