3.0 out of 5 stars Solid mouse, disappointing fault, 29 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
When it came to replacing my G5 (the side buttons had started to come loose after a couple of years of being mashed) I initially went for a cyborg rat; which was a terrible idea as the mouse was a horrible shape and the main buttons felt really flimsy. After that fail I decided to play it safe and go for another Logitech mouse.

I ended up with the g500s, the grandson of the G5. After a couple of days I noticed that the high pitched whine I had been hearing (right on the edge of what I can hear) was actually coming from the mouse. Searching around it is apparently a common(-ish I haven't had this problem with my g5 or my previous mx518) complaint about with Logitech mice.

Whining noise aside it a great mouse; solid side buttons and a nice switchable mode scroll wheel. Also you can reassign the dpi switching buttons in this version of the software too; which is a nice upgrade from the previous version of the software. It's just a bit of a lottery; if you are unlucky enough to get one with a noisy capacitor like me you'll probably be less happy with your new mouse than you might otherwise be...

5.0 out of 5 stars Clever and well built., 20 Sep 2008

I bought this keyboard to replace my saitek Eclipse II which died after 10 months of use. First thing I noticed that it was a little bigger that my previous keyboard, obvious really as it does have an extra row of keys. It also glows a little brighter.

The "G Keys" are simple and easy to setup (simply press the keys you want it to simulate) though I doubt you'll ever have much need for more than 10 of them.

The volume control dial (Soooo much nicer to use than the Saiteks buttons) feels a little flimsy, but three months of me poking it constantly haven't broken it so I guess it's good enough!

The two USB ports on the keyboard are unpowered and not USB 2.0 speed. Still good for pluggin memory sticks into as they are easy to access!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple setup and excellent recording quality, 20 Sep 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I'd like to start off by saying I know nothing about how a mic usually is connected to a computer/device to record. This did not stop me from setting the mic up in under a minute. Simply plug the mic into your computer and windows will automatically detect and setup the device. I didn't even need to put a cd in.

For the recording itself I installed some free software (Audacity) from the web to allow me to fiddle with the sound after recording. This mic is also very good for dictating to the computer, as that is what I am using it to do right now!

Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 1TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive
Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 1TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive

5.0 out of 5 stars An external hard drive that actually looks nice., 20 Sep 2008
Okay, there are a lot of reviews for this product already and a lot of misinformation so I thought I'd try to clear the air a bit and lay down the key points for external hard drives:

* You will not get 1TB of storage on this product. The industry measures 1TB as 1000 GB, but your computer measures it as 1024GB. The same goes for GB into MB. The true capacity of this drive when formatted will be in the region of 930GB.

* It comes with a multi-plug. Follow the instructions to clip off the USA plug and clip on the UK plug. No tools are required (except fingers) and most children of 5 could complete the task.

* The drive turns on and off with your computer and 'sleeps' when inactive to reduce power consumption and heat. In sleep mode it uses less power than your mouse, but if for whatever reason you want to turn it of simply right-click the drive icon and select 'safely remove'.

* Don't let the 'I lost all my files' reviews put you off. Some hard drives do fail. This is the same for all manufactures and cannot be avoided. Valuable data should always be backed up on two separate devices.

* If you are planning to store video on the drive it would be a good idea to format the drive to NTFS straight out of the box, don't worry about overwriting the files that come on the drive, you don't need them.

Compared to other drives on the market this one is nicer to look at, and thanks to it's sleep mode, quieter and cooler than most. Getting (nearly) a Gigabyte *EDIT 10Gb* per pound isn't too bad either!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top class!, 28 Sep 2007
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was apprehensive about buying these after reading some consumer reviews, stating that they were very fragile and that they leaked sound so badly that others could hear what song you're playing.

The neckband is made from tough springy plastic and is very sturdy. The earphone jack does feel quite flimsy, but provided you leave some slack when you wrap round your mp3 player this wont be a problem.

The sound leaking is noticeable; others can hear some noise in a quiet environment. However they aren't worse than any other headphones of this style and if that's going to be a problem you should really be looking at either in-ear headphones or some of the massive ear-enclosing ones that audiophiles wear.

Its main weakness is in the fact that the unit is not collapsible, the headbands/earphones do not fold into a more compact form. So they take up lots of space in a bag, and don't sit flat on a desk. Which means if you bag takes a hit from being thrown nonchalantly at a sofa, or you're unlucky enough to sit on them, they might not survive the encounter. As they don't come with a case, wearing them really is the only alternative.

All that said, these are the most comfortable earphone, of any kind, I have ever owned. The sound quality, being Sennheisers, is second to none in it's class. Given how cheaply Amazon is selling them as well, these really are the best wired neckband headphones on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute, but creepy..., 18 Sep 2006

This review is from: Pure Trance (Paperback)
It's pretty safe to say there isn't really anybody out there who has a style quite like Mizuno's. Mixing the hyper-cute with sex and death in a bizarre tale of oppression and revenge.

The book is set in the near future where people live in domes and must take the life sustaining pill `pure trance' to survive. Special clinics have been set up treat females who get addicted to the pills. We follow the story of Keiko a tyrannical director of Clinic 102, under whose rule the lives of her nurses are made a misery.

The Book is in English, black and white throughout and reads left to right (the pages have been flipped and in some cases redrawn by Junko Mizuno). It also contains bits of random trivia about Mizuno's crazed world and character profiles on the bottom of each page. A brief word of warning this book ,although cute, does contain frequent mild nudity.

Well worth the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useful only as a coffee mat, 6 Sep 2004
I hate reading and writing bad reviews, but this game really does deserve it. The concept was great, play as the C&C wise-cracking commando from the original games. The Visuals looked good too(at the time). But the clunky mission system, poor weapon selection and bad backing sound trashes the game.
If you want a good C&C game, buy generals. If you want a good FPS get Unreal, Quake or Halo. if you want both...then prepare for disapointment.
