Siamese in the Sun (Animal Ark Series)
Siamese in the Sun (Animal Ark Series)
by Ben M. Baglio
Edition: Paperback

1.0 out of 5 stars Tedious long-winded book, needs a sharp blue pencil, failing that a hot blue flame., 2 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Slow, laboured read for anyone of any age. It was published in 2003, but feels more like 1953. Back in the day, authors waffled for no discernible reason, and got away with it. I was hoping to send this to my cat loving granddaughter, but couldn't risk getting a name for sending boring presents, so used it for lighting the fire instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Well, 26 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Works well for turning a lightweight laptop shoulder bag into a safely padded camera bag for a small DSLR. I use it for my Nikon 5100 and two small spare lenses, but it's a tight fit. Compared to my other hefty camera bag it's a delight. 4 stars as it's very fiddly to adjust the partition size, but for the price highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Snug fit for Panasonic TZ60, 26 Dec. 2014

Nicely padded little case with a zipped outer pocket for extra batteries etc. Easy Velcro release for the belt clip, and a shoulder strap. This case probably wouldn't slip Into a handbag, unless capacious, but is fine for a man's coat pocket.

This is a very short spike and the base is very light. It won't take that many receipts. Having got it I realise now a spike with a curved-over end would be safer, and easier to hang up. But if you want something cheap and functional, this is a basic option.

4.0 out of 5 stars Effective for deep creases, 3 Nov. 2014
This was a gift for Him, was nicked by Her. He got a rash, She got reduced grooves along upper lip and down from the mouth, and is very happy with the cream.. If you have a sensitive skin it might not be for you, but those without such delicacy, give it a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars The cutter works fine and takes a lot of the hassle out of ..., 20 Oct. 2014

Wanted a pineapple cutter, and probably won't use all the other little gadgets, but who knows....perhaps when I next buy a melon or orange I might be tempted. The cutter works fine and takes a lot of the hassle out of preparing a pineapple. Easy to use, with surprisingly little umph needed, but place the pineapple in a bowl as juice leaks out in the process. It is still a messy business, so if you are expecting no mess, don't eat pineapples. The chunk cutter is inspired, just press it down and pineapple chunks emerge. There is very little waste from this method, and only a few eyes need removing after. Is it better or worse than other slicers? No idea. This one works so I'm unlikely to find out. Unless of course there is an electric one....

Smaller and slanderer than it looked in the ad, but perfectly formed for hanging out light clothing. The bungee type hooks are a good idea in addition to the suckers. If you want to hang out anything more than a shirt or underwear suggest you find a thicker elastic line.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great writer, the characters so vivid and varied, 13 Sept. 2014

Great writer, the characters so vivid and varied. Plenty of insights into so many different perspectives which is quite breathtaking really. Often found myself thinking, I must remember that bit. I am an admirer of such close observation and the skill in conveying it. There was a mystery threading itself through the story which cleverly linked all the unrelated characters, but it fizzled out towards the end as if the author had lost interest, and it is hard for the reader not to follow that lead. But that will not deter me from reading more of Lanchester's work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Health Warning: This looks stunning, but may drive you mad, 13 Sept. 2014
Pros: The suction using the floor attachment is excellent, and suction on the hose is also pretty good. The removable brush head is very neat, hence two stars. Cons: Sadly the Athlet 625 is, for me, unusable with the hose attachment. First, you have to lay the machine on the floor to unplug the cleaner head and attach the hose. Very hard unless you have a) good knees and b) a vice-like grip. I need help to achieve this operation, even if laying it on the sofa - OK when brand new, but not ideal once it has been used. Having attached the hose you now can't put the Athlet down, so must carry the whole 4' of machine - 8' with its long hose - using a thin fiddly strap on your shoulder. This means you can't reach the on/off switch situated at the top of the handle, and there is no regular handle on the machine to assist carrying it in any other way. When you have finished the stairs and crannies, constantly readjusting the shoulder strap so it doesn't fall off, you now have to lie it down again, detach the strap, and refit the regular carpet head. Bring in the troops. It is a truly terrible design. In view of this considerable clunkiness it is surprising it got such rave reviews and no mention of the drawbacks from Which? On top of these inconveniences the dust holder, (although easy to remove and empty, a nice bit of design) had to be to emptied after cleaning each quite small carpeted room because the suction is very efficient on the regular head. It is easy to push across laminate, but pushing across carpet is harder as the wheels are very small. I was hoping to use it for the car, but the awkwardness of not being able to put the Athlet down makes that a non-starter. It ought to be brilliant, it looks beautiful, works fantastically as a basic vacuum, but as a previous reviewer said the cheaper non-tool model would have been a much better buy. I would then be a happy punter not a very cross one who now needs to buy a smaller machine for stairs and corners. Come on Bosch, this could be a brilliant machine, you just need to attach the hose in an instantly accessible way. Who wants to vacuum their house twice, once with the regular head and then do a second circuit with the crevice tool? The whole point of the cordless machine is to cut down time spent on this boring task, not double it, surely?
